Fruit Pizza II

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2009
Man, did I mess this up - maybe you can learn from my mistakes. First, make this on a 12 inch pan and don't line it with foil. Second make sure the cookie dough is built up a bit and not too thin or the whole thing falls apart. Third, this takes at least 3 cups of fruit and maybe 4. Fourth, only drizzle the glaze and don't use it all or the whole thing will be swimming and it doesn't completely set up - just thickens a little. Oh and I tried both the whip cream/cream cheese combo and the marshmallow/cream cheese combo. They were both good but the marshmallow one stayed nicer on the pizza. In the end, my pizzas looked nice and tasted good but were terrible messes to eat. :)

Chocolate Covered Marshmallows

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2009
These are the perfect "kid cooking" project. My kids (6 & 3) made these for their friends today and they were fun while being not too messy (we used skewers to dip the marshmallows). We used milk chocolate chips and topped with crushed m&m's and graham crackers. :) Thanks!

Cinnamon-Apple Chex® Mix

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2009
This is pretty good, I wouldn't take it to a function but for home and snack it's pretty good. I burned the first batch so open the microwave during the apple step a few times to smell for burning. We also used raisinets instead of yogurt covered raisins because my husband prefers them.

Italian Spaghetti Sauce with Meatballs

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2009
I make this about every two weeks - I used to make it as directed but now I throw everything into the Crock Pot right at the beginning, I cook on low 6-8 hours. It turns out great and my Italian husband absolutely loves it! This sauce is better than you can buy and less expensive too!

Eileen's Spicy Gingerbread Men

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2009
Very good and very spicy.. any spicier and my KIDS (3 and 6) would not have eaten them so this is perfect. 8 minutes made chewy on the inside and crispy on the outside men. Thanks! Followed the recipe but lessened the salt to 1/4 tsp. and rolled out on powdered sugar.

Delicious Raspberry Oatmeal Cookie Bars

A great snack type food that you can even take on the go. My family loves these and my extended family loves these. They don't look amazing but they taste very good! We use grape jelly. :)

Ken's Texas Chili

Really enjoyed this, I added some tomato paste but otherwise stuck to the recipe and it was good - maybe some more spices? Otherwise very good, simple and quick to throw together.

Homemade Chewy Granola Bars

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2009
These are so much better than some of the other granola bars on this website. I've tried Granola bars III and Playgroup granola bars and their textures were way off but these are perfect. I used corn syrup but may try honey (for health) another time. The kids love them - I made them last night while everyone was in bed and they are almost gone at 10am this morning.. great recipe, followed it perfectly but added 1/4 c. oats for the flax seed - doubled it in a 9x13 and cooked for 23 minutes. Great!

Emily's Famous Hash Browns

We enjoyed these - my 6 year old said they tasted like McDonalds (I salted both sides after they were done) and my 3 year old said they tasted like french fries.

Italian Sausage Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2009
We don't traditionally like soup but this is great, I can't seem to make it wrong. We've used ditalini, potatoes, rice and the beans it calls for. I always used diced tomatoes instead of stewed because I like them better. It's a winner, company worthy and really good. My husband, who travels during the day, says it's good cold. We always use fresh spinach.

Canned Apple Pie Filling

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2009
Was very happy that the sauce made exactly enough for 7 quart jars. We added some spices as mentioned on the first page and it was a "spicier" apple pie filling when we tasted it but my husband likes it this way. :) Thanks!

Southern Peach Cobbler

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2009
I've made this twice this week, the second time I made it in a 8x11 pan and multiplied the servings so it served 6 in order to increase the topping amount. This turned out very well, much better than the first time and was devoured by the 14 people at my small group tonight.

Fragrant Chicken Curry

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2009
We like to eat out and have curry occasionally and have tried different recipes over the years. My husband really likes this one. I know everyone has changes, I thicken up the sauce with cornstarch but otherwise make it as stated. Don't be intimidated by all the people with all their changes - give it a try as is and then change what you want. :)

Fresh Rosemary Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2009
This did not rise well and it tasted worse. I substituted whole wheat flour for the gluten (which I always do) so perhaps that was the problem but this was really bad and a waste of mozz and parm and fresh rosemary. We won't try this again. My husband said it was too salty too (and he's not one to complain).

Tuna Noodle Casserole III

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2009
My husband really like this and said he'd have that again, he doesn't care much for tuna noodle and I've tried other versions from this site.. good job! It's on my list for the upcoming grocery trip! Oh and we used spaghetti noodles, I followed the first reviewers suggestions with cayenne-milk-sour cream-parmesan-and-cheddar: it came out great!

Sparkling Punch

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2009
I'm really not sure about this one. I thought it had an odd taste. I made 60 servings for 25 people and there was a little left (not a lot). Most people at the baby shower went back for seconds or more and several people commented on how much they liked it but I didn't like it a lot. I don't think I'd make this again but I do like the alternative to a heavy fruity or sherberty punch. I used rasberry lemonade (minute maid) to make it pink so I "might" try it again with regular lemonade.

Mom's Mozzarella Chicken for Drew

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2009
We made this with chicken nuggets (sliced) instead of chicken and my kids (5 & 2) thought this was the best - full of cheese and chicken nuggets they could get excited about spaghetti. I'd give this a 4 but the kids would definitely say 5. :)
