I'm a 38 year old wife (of 14+ years) and mother of 4 (ages 15, 14, 5, and 22 months.
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy baking bread but rarely have time these days. I make alot of "mexican" syle foods. I use ALOT of Garlic and onion in my recipes. We like stuff spicy (but not HOT and spicy)so be forewarned!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandmothers Saturday morning doughnuts, stuffing (at every holiday), jam bars and punch at Christmas, popcorn balls every Halloween. Baking Christmas cookies with my mom as a child and my nieces (before my daughter was born - now we all do it together). My other grandmothers wonderful variety of baked breads and her love of gardening. I hope I can pass those ALL along to my children!
My cooking triumphs
Hmmm. I make a MEAN pizza dough!! My kids love pizza night. We make "personal pan pizzas" in my cast iron frying pans. MMMMM!!
My cooking tragedies
I just started experimenting with my pizza dough recipe and added WAY too much salt - came out like a board!! Oh and the time I accidentally used cayenne instead of paprika in my Goulash recipe! What a waste! No one could eat it with 2 TABLESPOONS of Cayenne. I can't make gravy, pie crust or biscuits to save my life though. Every once in a while I give it a try but I just can't seem to get the knack of it.
UPDATE!!! - I have mastered gravy making!!! Woo hoo!!!!
