About this Cook
I'm a registered nurse by profession, but am currently a stay at home Mom for my daughters. I have been married 20 happy years, and enjoy cooking for my family.....especially my husband who is soooooo easy to please!
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook almost anything! I like trying new dishes, and new cuisines. I enjoy having friends and family over and pampering them with wholesome foods. I'm not a real strong baker, so I like to challenge myself with new recipes and techniques.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love preparing dishes handed down to me by my Gram. It gives me such a sense of comfort and connection making her dishes, and remembering happy days.
My cooking triumphs
I planned and prepared the teacher's luncheon at my daughters' school....a made from scratch taco bar complete with pork carnitas and refried beans. I was so pleased (and relieved) everything came out perfect....I received many compliments! It was the first time I had ever cooked for 60 people.
My cooking tragedies
I attempted a crockpot macaroni and cheese recipe that came out so horrible my youngest daughter and I ended up eating bread and butter for dinner....hubby and oldest daughter managed to eat the stuff and surprisingly lived to tell about it! Such a waste of good cheese :(

Whole Wheat Beer Bread
A nice recipe enjoyed by the entire family. I did reduce the salt to 1 tsp. as others had suggested. The bread had a wonderful flavor and couldn't have been easier to make. I would suggest serving the bread warm. The following day the crust was rather hard and the bread texture not as tender, despite being stored in an air tight container. A definite make again recipe....thank you!

Jalapeno Popper Spread
I made this recipe for the first time on New Year's Eve. I made only a half recipe as I had many other snack items on the menu. BIG MISTAKE!! This was gobbled up in no time flat! I served the spread with tortilla chips, as that is what I had on hand. I did bake for 20 minutes at 400*F. Thank you for the delicious recipe!

Artichoke Chicken
Despite the good reviews, we found this recipe very disappointing. Followed the recipe exactly as written, except for the cooking time. Cooking as directed would've resulted in undercooked chicken. The artichoke layer had good flavor, but it did not add any flavor to the chicken. Will not be making this recipe again.
