my first successful cookie experience!
About this Cook
Mid-20s female living in the frigid north that is Rochester, NY. Born and raised in North Carolina.
My favorite things to cook
I love tasty but surprisingly simple recipes. I love it when I take stuff to work and everyone raves about what I made...but really it was just extremely easy.
My cooking triumphs
I FINALLY made decent cookies from scratch!
My cooking tragedies
All the cookies I attempted to make from scratch up until my first success!

Angel Food Cake Roll
This cake was very easy to make, and tastes good too. I won't give it 5 stars because it wasn't amazing, but it was definitely worth the effort. My pan wasn't a full inch deep, so i ended up making a slightly smaller cake, and then a really small one with the leftover batter. I didn't think there was any way that the cake would roll, but it did, and was actually very easy. I definitely recommend this!

Ham and Pineapple Kabobs
Made this for about 10 people while camping. I made a much bigger batch than the recipe calls for, and they all got eaten, though by the end people were starting to slow down a little. At first though, people couldn't get enough of them! I marinated the ham and pineapple pieces all day, and then put the kabobs together right before grilling. I also added just a bit of worcestershire suace and maybe half a clove of garlic finely minced. I also substituted cranberry mustard for some of the regular. Yummy!

Beautiful Salad
I'm normally not a big salad eater. Even though I like spinach salads way more than regular (i hate lettuce) i still usually have to force them down. But this salad was GREAT! I made a couple of changes based on personal taste. First, I used the Sugar Coated Pecans recipe from this site for the nuts. I am not a big onion fan, so I diced the onion. After a while it smelled way too oniony, so I pulled most of the pieces back out. It still had a good onion flavor without the pieces of onion. Next time I think I'll mince up just a little bit of onion, and then just let the salad sit with one huge piece in it (and then pull that piece out), just to give it the flavor. I used goat cheese because that was what I had on hand. I used the "balsamic breeze" salad dressing spray. It's lower in calories and keeps you from drowning the salad. WONDERFUL!
