About this Cook
I am a SAHM with two beautiful children. I enjoyed watching cooking shows on tv and some of the techniques rubbed off. I began cooking quite young with chocolate chip and coconut pies, I even decorated my mud pies with roses I would pick off my mom's shrubs. In highschool I was determined to find the "perfect" cheesecake recipe and the quest lasted several months. To try new things I would select the spice of the day by spinning the spice rack and using whatever spice flew off! There were times when dinner was unedible. (Coriander in the stew) I have improved over the past 7-8 years and now consider myself a really good cook.
My favorite things to cook
Mexican food; sugar cookies with the kids; Christmas cookies and candies; bread; hamburgers, there is just something nice about a really tasty burger at home; pies of all sorts, homemade jam and salsa
My favorite family cooking traditions
I recently compiled all of our family recipes and stories from my brother and sisters and made a family cookbook. We all love my mom's spaghetti sauce but we all make it slightly different now, of course it is not as good as hers I don't know why we are trying to "improve" on the original.
My cooking triumphs
My husband says I am the best cook he knows. I love when people think the cakes and cookies I bake are from a bakery because they look so good. I went through a home made pasta phase and during that time I made I think the best chicken noodle soup I have ever eaten. My husband still talks about it.
My cooking tragedies
I made a chocolate cake and chocolate mousse for a friends birthday party. The cakes were too crumbly and the frosting wasn't working well, it was just ugly. So I turned it into a trifle. It tasted ok, but not what I was going for.

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup
This is the first recipe that I have reviewed. It was so good and very easy to prepare. The texture is very smooth, not too thick. It was a hit with the family. I will definately make this again and again!

Golden Dinner Rolls
These rolls were very good, the texture was very light and fluffy. I halved the recipe, used butter instead of shortening and increased the salt. Next time a tad more salt to suit our tastes.
