About this Cook
Well I recently became vegetarian about seven months ago. Since I'm Indian-my mum used to make really nice meat curries, I was never a fan of vegetables but now I'm vegetarian and getting a little too chubby for comfort since I'm just packing on the carbs, my mum doesn't know how to cook for me anymore and won't bother trying, and somehow I have a strange feeling I might need to learn to cook one day. When our oven used to work, most of my recipes turned out edible (sometimes) but now all I have is a toaster oven, a grill and a casserole dish that my mum doesn't like me going near. =] Oh and the frying pan, but I'm scared of oil splashing on my face.
My favorite things to cook
Well I think it's more like what I can cook: 1. Packet pasta dishes (I think I'm pretty good at it-it turns out really creamy) 2. Packet cake mixes (Now our normal oven is broken this won't work but like I used to be okay with that too) 3. Toast? 4. 2 Minute Noodles (I use soy sauce and chilli paste so yes I do count as something I cooked!) 5. Boiled and Scrambled eggs...and omlettes (When I used to eat egg) ...No that seems about it.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Fish Curry, Chicken Curry, Lamb Curry, Goat Curry...etc.
My cooking triumphs
Look at my favourite things to cook. Oh wait this one I made really nice Cinammon Butter Cake..from a packet. And like once I made a really nice cheesy omlette..FROM SCRATCH! And also..I once made like perfect toast with just the right ratio of butter and vegemite. (A+ Cook I am)
My cooking tragedies
NEARLY EVERYTHING. I tried making hash browns but they wouldn't work in the frying pan so I put them on the grill and they were completely raw and totally gross. And this one time I tried making scones and like there were raw inside, burnt outside, like hard dough but not cooked. Other time I "improvised" (I really should never do that) and used 2 minute noodles and added honey, garlic and soy sauce and well lets just not talk about how yuck that was. Also this other time I used like a cheese sauce for potato and that was gross and gave me a headache from the grossness, I made this mistake again by using a pasta sauce on potato, let's not talk about the many levels of gross for that one also. I just really want to make a nice potato dish cause like once I had some cold potato wedges covered in this sooo yummy sauce and it was yum and the person who made it said they used a packet and I can't find the right packet. Okay that's about it.

Cinnamon Pudding Cake
I was searching through for another cinnamon recipe and this seemed to fit -the whole brown syrup thing sounded a little, well a lot fattening so I just skipped it and made the batter, it was really quite nice-it was more like bread than cake, you could even butter it plus it wasn't too sweet, the pieces I wanted a little extra sweetness too, I buttered and put a little bit of cinnamon/white sugar on top.

Cinnamon Teacake
Very delish & easy. I put some tin fruit in the middle and cut back a bit on the butter. To clarify, I'm pretty sure that you put only the the butter, sugar and cinnamon in the pan to heat and then pour that mixture into the self raising flour.

Apple Scones
I tried to make scones once before and they ended up burnt on the outside and raw on the inside. So anyway I'm trying to give it another go this time kneeding it less. I swapped a couple of things...I added in raisans, took out the apple, used ghee instead of butter cause we were out and also used a tsp of cinnamon instead of 1/2 and also added in 1/2 tsp allspice and 1/2 tsp nutmeg. I coated it with just milk and white sugar. I also didn't have any bi-carb soda so I used 3 tsp of baking powder. I really regret using the ghee as I don't think it's usually used in baking and gives a strong smell that I quite dislike when it's cooking-I have gotten a headache. I doubt anyone would sub it in instead of butter-but just a warning. DON'T! I'm still giving this recipe 4 stars just because I didn't follow it exactly and if I had butter I'm sure that there might have been a better result. It did brown nicely though although inside wouldnt very scone-like..you might need more flour. Oh and ghee is purified butter.
