About this Cook
Karen uses All Recipes to plan dinner menus, trying to add a few new recipes each week.
My favorite things to cook
Brandon's favorite thing to cook is Cajun chicken pasta. Karen's favorite thing to cook is anything in a slow cooker.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We like having breakfast once a week for dinner. Karen enjoys baking with Grace who loves being Mommy's helper.
My cooking triumphs
Brandon makes the best chocolate chip cookies. Karen makes great cake mix cookies.
My cooking tragedies
Karen tried to finish off a a baked meal by broiling it. Unfortunately, the glass pan shattered. After Brandon cleaned up the mess, we had to go out to eat.

Make-Ahead Turkey Gravy
The turkey wings were difficult to find, so next time I'll use 3 turkey legs. I added a gravy ladle of turkey drippings when reheating. Yum.

Peanut Butter and Banana Smoothie
I didn't want to waste the one very ripe banana I had left over after making banana muffins, so I thought I'd try this recipe. Although she declared this "the deliciousest smoothie [she] ever heard of," my preschooler only drank a couple of sips. I prefer my bananas nearly green, so I was surprised that I liked this even though I used a very ripe one. I used skim milk and omitted the honey. Next time, I'll either freeze the banana or add a couple of ice cubes as recommended by other reviewers. I might even add a little chocolate milk syrup, too.

Ranch-Style Thighs
So simple, yet so satisfying. This is definitely my favorite recipe for bone-in chicken thighs, skin removed. I used Italian seasoned breadcrumbs, so I omitted the Italian seasoning. I never have cornmeal in the house, so I omitted that, too. I loved it with ranch but will try using Dijon or honey mustard sometime. I bake it on a cooling rack over a pan, so the bottoms don’t get soggy.
