About this Cook
Love food. Love to eat. Love to feed family and friends. Love to hear them moan over a simple thing like a homemade cookie or a slice of pizza I've made.
My favorite things to cook
Pasta sauce. I love my thick red sauce loaded with vegetables, meat and garlic. Over an assortment of pasta and ravioli, topped with fresh grated parmesan and a side of garlic bread. Heaven. Cakes, cookies, bread. I love to bake. A famous pyschic once told me she saw me owning my own bakery. That it was a true talent of mine. I love my crockpots. A nice tender beef stew or roast makes me happy.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My dad's a chef. My mom was a stay at home mother who let me watch and help prepare meals as far back as I can remember. I grew up eating three squares a day of healthy home cooked meals. Prepackaged foods were a treat once in a while. Like a box of Cracker Jack or a Hostess Cupcake. My mom made some great from scratch cakes. Even her own doughnuts. Ice cream. Popcicles. Just about everything was homemade. These days of our foods being loaded with all kinds of chemicals I still try to make everything from scratch. It can be time consuming but the end result is worth every minute spent.
My cooking triumphs
I like to try new recipes on friends and family. Trouble is when they start begging for me to make it again. I'll give them the recipe but they say it never turns out as good as when I make it.
My cooking tragedies
I had a boyfriend who's mother hated me. I asked her for her recipe for his favorite cake, Red Velvet. It was for his birthday. She purposely gave me the wrong measure of oil. Adding a cup. It was awful, I was in tears and even he knew what she had done. Since that day, I have never made a Red Velvet cake again.

Seven Layer Taco Dip
Wow! I brought this to work and they inhaled it. Very delicious and satisfying. Wouldn't change a thing on the original recipe here. Definitely suggest making the bottom layer ahead of time and then adding the salsa, veggies and cheese right before serving.

Sloppy Joes II
Wow! Absolutely delicious! I've been craving a sloppy joe all week. The Manwich sauce of today doesn't taste like it did when I was a kid but this does. Perfect. Wouldn't change a thing and it was a breeze to make.

Chicken with Stuffing
Terrific Sunday dinner. I used half the amount of water and a box of Stovetop chicken flavored stuffing. It was very tender, flavorful and satisfying. Will be making this again this weekend. Thanks for the recipe.
