Chicken and Peppers with Balsamic Vinegar

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2009
This recipce is FANTASTIC! I didn't give it a 5, only because I like my food a little spicier, and also because I think the cooking times need to be adjusted. If you leave the peppers in as long as prescribed, you en up with very pretty mush. Instead, I add them towards the end. Other than that, this is DELICIOUS, and oh-so-easy!

Red Pepper Soup

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2008
Simple, tasty and inexpensive. Great soup! I highly recommend following other reviewer's suggestions of : pureeing with an immersion blender (no straining) and also, to add just a touch of cayenne if you like a bit of kick. Fantastic soup..Thanks for posting the recipe!

Avocado Feta Salsa

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2008
Delicious! I highly recommend seasoning to taste, though. It can be a little bland when you follow the recipe exactly, which is why I only gave it 4 stars. All in all, great idea and very nice combination of flavors!

African Peanut Soup

This recipe is delicious! Depending on your preference, I would recommend adding a little spice. After following the original recipe, I added in some chili powder and Tabasco to taste. Very unique flavor and great texture.

Slow Cooker Chicken with Mushroom Wine Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2008
This recipe was...eh. The smell was fantastic while cooking, but the end result was lacking. Good points: The chicken itself was tender, the smell was good and its easy cleanup. Bad points: Taste was bland and slightly bitter, presentation is not very attractive, texture of the sauce is off. It's not thick, but it's almost..slimy. I followed the recipe exactly. This recipe could probably be made better with some tweaking, if you're up for it.

Turkey with Orange Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2008
The orange sauce is DELICIOUS! I did add just the tiniest drop of vanilla extract to the sauce. It was good over the turkey, but I can't wait to try it over some orange roughy fillets. I think thickening the sauce by boiling would make it perfect over fish.

Penne with Spicy Vodka Tomato Cream Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2007
Great flavor and spice. I only made two small changes: I used one hot sausage link and one sweet, and used 1/2 and 1/2 instead of heavy cream. Next time I will use the heavy , though, as the sauce seemed a little thin. All in all, a fabulous dish.

Honey Chicken Stir-Fry

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2007
Turned out very well. I did add some chili powder and red papper flakes fora little heat (personal preference) but tasted before the addition and it was still fantastic. You can add any and all veggies that work for you : baby corn, carrots, peas, edamame, etc. All are delicious!

Arangini (Italian Rice Balls)

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2007
Followed recipe exactly and , well, they were ok, I guess. Seemed bland and definitely not worth the effort. BF and I doused in marinara to add some flavor. Perhaps I will try again and add some spices (cayenne and lots of pepper) to help it out.

Cinnamon Sweet Potato Chips

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2007
Eh- I'd say it's just ok. Chips ahd great flavor, but were soggy and quite few burned before the other ones even began to crisp. Changes of note: instead of brushing the chips with the mixture, I put them all in a large Ziploc and shook 'em to save time (so very much easier). Next time I think I will put them on a broiler pan to help them crisp without burning. Suggestions?

Gorgonzola and Apple Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2007
I would have given this a 5, but it dodn't originally call for brown sugar to be added to the apple/cheese mix, and the sugar was SUCH a great addition. Also, you WILL need to reduce the amount of cheese to taste. The full recipe amount is just too much. All in all, a wonderful starter recipe, just needs a tweak here and there.

Cheryl's Spinach Cheesy Pasta Casserole

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2007
Absolutely delicious! I added Fontina cheese for a little zip and some smoked Mozz as well. Also, was extrememly liberal with the garlic, pepper and crushed red, as we like a little heat. The spinach flavor is not very pronounced, so it's a great way to get non-veggie eaters their daily does.

Kickin' London Broil with Bleu Cheese Butter

The combination of butter and spices was a HIT! I recommend doubling the bleu cheese, though. Also, definitely add the chives to the spice mix-gives it a great flavor!

Oven Roasted Red Potatoes

Meh. I needed to add quite a bit of extra seasoning to bring out any flavor. A good starter recipe, but definitely needs some that something extra.

Homemade Black Bean Veggie Burgers

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2007
Mmmmm-so good we decided to freeze the rest of the batch for an easy, reheat meal during the week. I doubled the recipe and added 1/2 cup cooked brown rice with the breadcrumb step to give the burgers a little more fill and structure. This recipe had the meat eaters and vegetarians alike asking for seconds. One tip: put a little olive oil on your hands when shaping the patties to prevent sticking. (Also makes your cuticles nice and soft!)These are an instant classic with my frinds.
