About this Cook
I am a 22-year old student living in a flat with my best friend away from home. This means I usually cook for just myself and as I am not picky some of my creations are very... ehhm, interesting! :-) I love to cook for other people as well and then I try to do things properly. This is where allrecipes.com comes in- it's been a tremendous help and I am sure all my friends appreciate it!
My favorite things to cook
I don't think I have got a favourite thing to cook. I love to bake- muffins, cakes, pies. I am always looking for new recipes to try. I also like to be creative and hardly ever follow cooking instructions 100%. Whenever possible I prefer to cook with fresh ingredients rather than tinned or frozen as I believe it tastes a lot better if it's fresh. Something I have not yet succeeded as is baking bread. I have tried numours times but the outcome has not been statisfactory yet.
My favorite family cooking traditions
There are no real traditions I remember... obviously I look forward to the huge variety of Christmas biscuits year after year and at Christmas we always sit down on Christmas Eve to my grandma's self made sausages.
My cooking triumphs
Making a Christmas dinner for my friends! The turkey, stuffing, roast potatoes- the whole lot. I was very stressful! My boyfriend was taking pictures of me while I was peeling, chopping, stirring away and I look so stressed!! Hahaha! :-) But it was definitely worth it!!
My cooking tragedies
There have ben a few! Once I tried boiling an egg in the microwave- I would not recommend this!! It exploded, the microwave door flew open and covered the whole kitchen in yellowy goo! Oh, and I once tried making bread in a muffin tin and this experiment failed as well- I ended up with "bread bricks" that nearly broke my tooth when I tried to eat one. Mmh, and sometimes I get too creative and carried away.

Empire State Muffins
I made these today but didn't have any walnuts or pecans so left them out. I also had 2 cups of carrots and only 1 of apple. These were so good! The outside was crispy which we liked a lot! The inside is so moist. Overall, the muffins are very tasty.

Bacon Cheese Muffins
I just made these and they turned out okay. They made slightly more than 12 muffins in my tins (I ended up with 15). I think the next time I made these muffins I will add more cheese and more bacon than is called for.

Sweet and Sour Pork I
I made this today and it was excellent. I didn't put any of the sugar in and used balsamic vinegar as that was all I had on hand but I really like it!
