About this Cook
I am the wife of a medical school student, which means that we have no money and we move a lot (about every two years). Every time I get settled down with friends and a job it's time to relocate for his school. I just moved agian recently. When my hubby was just studying he would cook dinner. He's an excellent cook who can improvise and throw things together and have them come out great. He would even cook the entire Thanksgiving feast! Now though, he spends ALL his time at the hospital and I'm left to cook for us even though I have no idea what I'm doing! Thank goodness for the internet or we would be eating a lot of spaghetti.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake quick bread! Cinnamon bread, banana bread, peanut butter bread...
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother's Toutiere on Chrismas eve. Not that I can MAKE it but I sure can EAT it.
My cooking triumphs
Every year I bake a cake for my husband's birthday. His favorite was chocolate cake with peanut butter mousse between the layers and ganache for frosting. Yum!
My cooking tragedies
My first time making quiche was less than good. It started badly when I couldn’t get it in the oven without it overflowing onto the floor and my feet. I had to change the pan I had it on half way through because it just kept dripping out the edges. It ended up tasting like a bland egg and cheese scramble and it took well over an hour. Oh well.

Coffee Shake
Needs more coffee- more ice- more sugar! But then it was good. I didn't have syrup so I added a small handful of chocolate chips. Second cup: I substituted a packet of hot chocolate mix for the sugar/chocolate and put in two packets of granuals- Yum!

Salsa Chicken Rice Casserole
Not exceptional but not bad at all. Very basic recipe, tastes mostly of cheese and salsa. The only changes I made was to saute my onion first as it was a little pungent and to oven bake the chicken breasts.

Delicious Black Bean Burritos
Good but not fantastic. They really need the cilantro or they won't have any flavor. I think I'm going to add cumin to the leftovers and maybe some diced tomato to punch it up a bit.
