really easy recipe, with a nice taste. I was hesitant about it, but it really did turn out well, and was very filling. Worth a try.

Roasted Sherry Duck

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2009
This was really incredible. I paused several times when I noticed there was no salt in the ingredients, and I had serious doubts about how that would go over... I was so pleasantly surprised! the taste is wonderful. You can appreciate the true taste of the duck, and the rosemary was just the icing on the cake. I used a large Mulard Duck Breast, and adjusted the recipe down to 2 servings. Warning, be careful when adjusting the recipe, because the actual preparation instructions include quantities that correspond to the amount of servings in the original recipe. No harm really, you may just have leftover rub or sherry that you won't use. GREAT, GREAT, GREAT (at least to me anyway :-) Thanks for sharing!

Outrageous Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2009
Fabulous recipe! They turned out slightly crisp and chewy at the same time. perfect texture. The only change I made was I used premium bittersweet chocolate chips instead of semi-sweet chocolate chips. I believe it made a world of difference. Absolutely exquisite. A definite keeper. Thanks for sharing!

A-Number-1 Banana Cake

Absolutely fabulous. wouldn't change anything. The buttermilk gives it the right amount if moisture. I followed the recipe exactly, and it was perfect; not to mention a complete hit. Someone bought the whole thing at a local bake sale!! Thanks for sharing such a great recipe!

Sweet Mustard Chicken Bake

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2009
Great recipe. Another big hit. The only reason it wasn't a 5 for me is because the chicken itself (beyond the taste of the sauce) needed something IMO... maybe a slight sprinkling of salt? Not sure, but if you prefer your meat to be well seasoned, you may need to modify the recipe to suit your own taste buds. It's a fabulous recipe as is though. Thanks for sharing.

Ed Zieba's Famous Family Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2009
HUGE hit. These pork chops were mentioned for days after. I created a dry rub for the chops using sea salt, black pepper, dry mustard, lemon pepper, and a hint of rosemary, and added chopped carrots to the pot. The pork chops were incredibly tender, and so very tasty. Huge hit for a very simple recipe! This is certainly a keeper, and a recipe that allows for a lot of individuality. Experiment with it, and make it your own. Thanks for sharing a wonderful basic recipe. So much better than frying...

Flatlander Chili

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2008
I didn't have tomato juice, so I substituted V8 vegetable cocktail instead. I was a bit worried just looking at it in the pot, becasue I thought it would be too thin or that it would not come out right; but it was absolutely tasty! I served it with savoury muffins, and an array of fresh chopped cilantro, minced green onions, sour cream, & shredded cheddar cheese. The cilantro really brought out the flavours, and this is definitely a keeper for our home. it was a big hit. Thanks for a great recipe

Maryland Pumpkin Seeds

Really nice twist. The seasoning gave it a interesting blend of flavors. If I try this again, I will soak the seeds before roasting them to make them more plump. I didn't soak them, so the seeds were very small & hard to separate from the shell, but yummy anyways :-)

Savory Breakfast Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2008
Thanks for sharing a nice recipe. These were great. I even froze some of them for a quick on the go "breakfast". I can pop one in the microwave for 20 seconds or so, and run out the door with it! I added organic flax seed to mine, so they were a bit more dense, but it gave them a really nice texture as well. They're nice with butter, and easy to feed to small children. Certainly worth a try. I think this recipe has great potential for personalizing with your favorites grains or even nuts etc.

Thanks for an easy and tasty recipe! I tried this with red wine, and I worried the wine would overpower the taste, but it actually seemed to enhance the other flavors! very tasy. Thanks for sharing!

Almond Crusted Pork with Apple-Rosemary Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2008
Thanks for sharing a greast recipe. I didn't have any apples in the house, so I couldn't try the sauce recommended, but it still turned out well, and I enjoyed it. I endd up making another type of Rosemary sauce using the juices from the pan. I couldn't give it a five only because I used the calculator to adjust the serving size, and I ended up with too much of the almond mixture for the amount of meat I had. In any case, this recipe has great potential for modifications, and i'll definitely be trying it again; next time with the yummy sounding apple sauce! I also cut up some zucchini, and coated them in bread crumbs, and stuffed the tenderloin with it. I rubbed the extra almond mixture inside the pocket before stuffing it. Yummy!

Holland Boterkoek

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2008
This was very easy to make! I was however uncertain about whether it was the correct texture since I had never had it before. After removing it from the pan and cutting it, my fears were allayed. I enjoyed this quick recipe, and although I really like the taste of Almond, in my opinion, the almond taste was really overwhelming. Our dinner guest was openly verbal about it being too "almondy" :-( The texture however is really interesting, and nice for munching! I will definitely try this again, but I will significantly decrease the amount of Almond extract. In my opinion just a hint of almond would make this the perfect coffee time treat. Thanks for sharing!

Feta and Olive Meatballs

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2008
These were really flavorful & fun to make. A great recipe. I only used one egg, and it was plenty enough. I think two eggs would have been too much. I also made a simple marinara sauce (1/4 cup of olive oil,2 cloves of garlic sauteed, tomatoes chopped, 1 tsp dried oregano, & 3 tbsp of dried parsley); and put it over some noodles with the meatballs on top. It was wonderful. Thanks for sharing. Another keeper :-)

Spinach Stuffed Chicken Breasts

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2008
I usually complain when people modify a recipe & then leave bad feedback when it doesn't turn out "right"... I admit, I modified this recipe a bit, but it turned out fabulous, and since the original recipe was the framework for it, I give this recipe 5 stars!!! I used fresh cut swiss chard instead of spinach (removed the stalk, and steamed it in a bit of water, then added butter & lemon juice to taste). Then I added minced sun dried tomato slices, chopped onions, kosher salt, fresh basil, & fresh ground pepper; along with the mayo, feta, and garlic. Used ~ 1/8 cup of lemon juice + ~ 1/4 cup of olive oil, and 1/8 tsp of dried oregano to pour over chicken before baking. Also lightly browned the chicken before stuffing. I Used bone in chicken breast & just stuffed the natural pocket adjacent to the bone, and wrapped it in prosciutto. AMAZING. A huge hit at the table, and a definite keeper. Thanks for sharing this recipe.

Sliced Tomatoes with Fresh Herb Dressing

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2008
Just made this for supper, and it was fantastic. Followed the directions exactly as written, and it was terrific. Everyone at the table agreed that a bit of lemon juice, or lemon zest in this would give it a great zing. Otherwise, perhaps a raspberry vinegar or something similar would be a great addition. Very Tasty! Thanks for sharing!

Butterscotch Potato Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2008
Just made these. fabulous! Who would have thought butterscotch & potato chips would blend so well!? At first glance they look like white chocolate chip cookies. I followed the directions exactly, and the dough was very easy to handle. It held it's form, and I was able to space the cookies close together on the sheet, and didn't have any of them melting together. The cookies turned out round, and thick. Very moist, and full looking. Mine didn't look like the picture... A definite keeper! Thanks for sharing this great recipe!

Zucchini Cobbler

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2008
Goodness... Is this legal??? I did this on faith alone, not expecting much because it was, well, zucchini :-) I trekked down to the garden and chose 2 fairly large zucchinis, and 2 medium size ones, & proceeded back into the kitchen. Well, I simply could not believe the taste of the actual "crumble" mixture itself even before baking this! The finished product was fantastic. It was eaten with complete zest (under the assumption that it was Apple Crumble). They were enjoying it too much, I didn't have the heart to tell them it was zucchini until it was finished heh heh :-). They were in complete and utter shock when they found out it was zucchini. This is the absolute best way to get kids to eat zucchini. It has a bit of a citrus zing, that may not be to some people's liking. This could probably be remedied by adjusting the amount of lemon juice in the recipe. I am NOT a fan of zucchini or Apple, and I have to admit that this was spectacular. I think fresh zucchini is the key, because it is still soft, so it sliced very easily, and once cooked; it absolutely looked like apple. No one in our household suspected otherwise. If you're an apple lover, or have an acutely discerning taste bud, maybe you'll be able to tell the difference. I don't think the average person would if it's done properly. I followed the directions to a tee. I wouldn't change anything. This is a definite keeper for our household! Thanks for sharing this great recipe.

Indian Chicken Curry II

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2008
Although we absolutely love Indian food, we've never tried cooking Indian food before, so we followed this recipe to the letter with no deviation except for the fact that we used drumsticks instead of breasts. It was slightly spicy, but absolutely tasty!!! We weren't sure what to expect after reading some of the reviews, but we were so surprised, and happy with the results! It's definitely a keeper. The best part is that it didn't require a special trip to the market for ingredients, and it was so quick & easy. It's a perfect recipe to share with a teenager or someone curious about cooking; and highly recommended. Thanks for sharing such a great recipe.
