About this Cook
I am a stay-at-home mom of 3 beautiful girls ages 7, 4, and 2. I have also been married to my wonderful husband for 5 1/2 years. We live in a small town just north of Denton, TX, which we love!
My favorite things to cook
I love trying new things. I've been known to whip up dishes on a whim with no recipe to follow and just the ingredients I have on hand. I especially enjoy making Italian and Mexican dishes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
There's a wonderful Mexican Meat Market in town that has the best fajita meat! We will usually go get enough to last us a month and then barbeque once a week on Sunday. It's a family favorite and something even our youngest will partake in!!
My cooking triumphs
I had never cooked prime rib roast or ham before, but two years ago, I attempted both using two separate marinades, and they both came out wonderfully!! Since they are both quite pricey cuts of meat, we don't eat them too often, but on special occassions, we'll definitely splurge for these fabulous dishes!
My cooking tragedies
I can remember back in college when I made spaghetti and added entirely too much oregano to the sauce and then overcooked the noodles to the point that they were disgustingly chewy and had a film on them. I can't even begin to tell you how awful it was!! lol

Rich Chocolate Brownies
I made these brownies exactly as instructed, and while they had a nice flavor, they were very cake-like and dry. Maybe a simple omission of the baking powder would solve that problem??

Deep Dish Brownies
These brownies taste AMAZING!!! My only complaint is that they are too hard on the outside and too crumbly on the inside...and not fudgey-crumbly but dry-crumbly. I'm only used to brownies being that way if it's time to throw them out. Even fresh out the oven they're a little hard, but once they cool, they're pretty deceiving because you wouldn't expect a seemingly stale brownie to taste so good. Not really sure what needs to be done to keep them from hardening so much. I've baked them at various time intervals, and they always turn out the same. Maybe a more experienced chef could figure this one out???
