About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
oh, .. anything that involves wine, so i have an excuse to drink as i cook :)
My cooking tragedies
this is the only interesting section to fill out, so here goes: while living in the south coast of turkey, a large container of my boiling-hot arabic tea exploded on the countertop and covered my legs in second degree burns. we had no car, and amidst my wailing and crying found a neighbor to drive me to the nearest "hospital". i had an i.v., pain injections, etc. but the good news is that a one night stay in the hospital plus two meals and all my meds added up to only $70 US dollars, which says a lot about how screwed up the US health care system is.

Lentil and Sausage Soup
great recipe! i cross-refrenced the ingredients list of this recipe with a similar recipe from here in argentina, and the only thing they do different is add about a handful each of red and green bell peppers. i found it the taste was a complement to the soup added some color too. i cant find chicken stock here so i always substitute by using chicken bouillon cubes instead.. i think in this dish i used a total of 4, and obviously had no need for extra salt. thanks!

Beef Stew V
this stew is awesome! people that said it was bland lack imagination ;) cool things to add: portobello mushrooms, sun dried tomatoes, red chili powder, and a little brown sugar. also, it helps to have some extra red wine and tomato pure on hand, as mine was a little thick and i went back and forth from adding these two liquids versus adding more water. (we like it thick) **major bonus:** there was enough left over that i didnt have to make lunch the next day.
