Meaty Thick Man Chili

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2007
Serving for four: 1 & 1/2 lbs hamburg, 1/4 cup each finely chopped carrots, onions, peppers and 1 clove garlic. I used 2 cans kidney beans and 1 can black beans (we like a lot of beans) 1/4 cup chilli powder and 1/4 bag taco seasoning, 1 quart (we canned them this summer) tomatoes (crush with your hands) and enough water to make it the desired consistency. After I browned the meat with the veggies, put it all in crock pot for about 5-6 hours low. Served with buttermilk skillet cornbread and you are set to go!!!

Cheesecake Supreme

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2007
Went along with HEISLORD5 suggestions, the taste is very good but the presentation is ok. I never made a cheesecake without a water bath until this. I will try it with a water bath next time and see if it looks beautiful and has a little more moisture. Great taste, a tad dry, but overall very good

Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2007
Awesome 5++ stars. To the readers who had dry bread.... 1/4 lb not 1/4 cup butter!!! This might have made a difference if you read it wrong, 1/4 lb is 1/2 cup of butter. Also I put it in my greased preheated iron skillet for 25 min, excellent!!

Excellent. I only had a 1 & 1/2 pound loin. I kept the sauce and spices as is and had plenty for this weight. I also covered with foil until the last 1/2 hour. I only had to cook for about 1 and 1/2 hour to reach 150. Very good and easy!!!

Sweet and Sour Chicken I

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2007
5+ must try. Not time consuming, could not understand why so many said it is. The sauce took 10-15 minutes and then you had to fry chicken. I did change a few things. For a serving of 4; To the sauce, I added 1tsp brown sugar, 1 tb soy sauce, 1/2 green pepper, 1/4 onion and 1/2 carrot all diced and sauteed and added to the sauce along with pineapple. The chicken, I soaked in salt water for half an hour and then diced and added onion & garlic powder, s/p to it. DO NOT add chicken to sauce until you serve. I also fried chicken earlier and then reheated in over 350 10-15 minutes.

Did not like the combination of cinn with choc..I even reduced the cinn to 1/2 tsp. Just not what we liked. I also tried coffee instead of water for more choc taste. I only gave 3 stars because this is not brownies, it is cake and I was looking for brownies.

Very good, I did change a few things. For family of four, I used two cups of stock, 2 tbsp of butter and two tbsp flour, no water. I melt the butter then add flour cook until bubbly resembles wet sand, add broth (wisk) and season. I cut the seasoning down due to decreasing liquid
