I live in MN with my partner who loves the fact that i am learning to cook and bake!!!
I really enjoy bringing the things i make into work or to friends or family to test out....
My favorite things to cook
I started out just making simple cookies...which i still love to do, but i have recently been trying pies, cakes and then been doing cooking as well. my favorite new thing to make is bread...and since i grow my own herbs it has been really fun to incorporate both hobbies! this winter i am going to start making veggie soups...that is going to be my new project!
My favorite family cooking traditions
when i was younger my mom always did cut out cookies with a bunch of different colored frostings and fun toppings at the holiday times...we would decorate the sugar cookies and then have them out when family came over to celebrate...my mom also did a lot of baking and so i have used a lot of her recipes!
My cooking triumphs
i was the most excited to have made my first loaf of bread...i stayed up until about 3am doing and it was so fun to taste the first bite! it was a rosemary bread with the rosemary from my herb garden...and the whole process really encouraged me to try new things!
My cooking tragedies
the first time i tried to make cookies...this was several years ago...i didn't realize that there was any difference between baking powder and baking soda...so when the recipe called for one and we didn't have it i substituted the other...no good!
my sister still laughs at that!
