In the 6 years that my husband and I have been together, the ONLY fight we have EVER had has been about food. I can remember our first fight as if it were yesterday. T was upset because I didn't dice the tomatoes, but left them in wedges for the salad. Apparently it makes a BIG difference in the MORE

About this Cook
I live on a sailboat in the Virgin Islands with a tiny fridge, so there is no room for leftovers. I love the ingredient search on this site...I never waste anything! It's very expensive to live here, so we do a menu challenge-trying to spend less than $15 a day on food.
My favorite things to cook
I am a jewelry designer and work for myself, so I have the flexibility to make time-consuming or complicated meals, but I usually end up making something quick and easy or using the slow cooker.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Oyster dressing is a must for Thanksgiving and Christmas! I keep Grandma's handwritten recipe and follow it exactly.
My cooking triumphs
My very first turkey for my husband! It's called a Black Turkey, and the best I've ever had!
My cooking tragedies
There was a Key Lime Pie that we do not talk about!

Roasted Chickpeas
Wish I'd tried this sooner! I just took these out of the oven, plan to serve them on a salad instead of croutons. I used salt, pepper, garlic, cumin, and a dash of hot sauce, all mixed with the oil then tossed. I baked about 375 for about 40 minutes, but I started checking them at 30, then every couple minutes. Thanks for the recipe!!!

Pasta with Gorgonzola and Sweet Onion
I thought this recipe was great! What a nice change from tomato sauce or cheese sauce. My husband thought it was weird but he did eat 2 servings! Thanks!

Polish Sloppy Joes
I think this would have been good as written, but I did change it quite a bit. I used crumbled polish sausage, didn't use the chicken stock, just the sauerkraut juice. I also added about a half cup sour cream at the end, and that gave it a great taste as well as the saucy texture of a regular sloppy joe. Thanks for the recipe!
