About this Cook
I love food and new recipes. My family will comment when they are eating a recipe for the second time as it's an unusual occurance at our home.
My favorite things to cook
Anything but dessert. I love to eat dessert, I'm just not talented enough to get great results from baked goods (besides cookies and muffins).
My favorite family cooking traditions
Christmas Eve. We alternate families each year. If it's my side, my aunt makes Salmon, Perogies and Cabbage Rolls. If it's my husband's, my mother-in-law makes Traditional Tortieres. Recipes with Memories :)
My cooking triumphs
Easter Dinner in New Zealand. There's no such thing as canned pumpkin and turkey's cost a mint. I saved and prepared the full meal deal including bread sauce out of recipes brought from home. It was alot of preparation and substitutions, but it was well worth the effort!!
My cooking tragedies
Stuffed Meatloaf and running out of gas. No, not gas for the oven.... gas for the van. I prepared and put the meatloaf in the oven before taking our daughter to gymnastics. Knowing full well it would be ready by the time we returned..... well, until my husband tried to start the van after practice. It cooked an extra hour and there was no saving that poor log :(

Barbequed Thai Style Chicken
My whole family LOVED this recipe. I read a bunch of the reviews before I made it and still felt I would follow your recipe as stated. It turned out perfect. I'm not sure why some people decide to try a recipe when they know full well they don't like a major ingredient ... ie. the comment from the reviewer who thinks cilantro tastes like soap. The major ingredient in this recipe is "cilantro". Why would you even try this recipe? I suggest follow the recipe as given, it's AMAZING!

Pasta with Pesto and Scallops
Thank you for your great recipe. I, of course, did not see a reason to change your recipe at all. The only thing was I LOVE spinach fettucini so I made it with that. It turned out AWESOME!!

Chicken and Spinach Alfredo Lasagna
I made this lasagna for a birthday party with 20 guests. I did not feel I wanted to substitute your recipe, I had to because I forgot a couple things on the shopping trip. I had to replace heavy cream w. light sour cream and mushrooms w. rehydrated dried shitake mushrooms. It was a HIT!!! I'm sure it's a great hit w/out these changes, BUT in case anybody gets in the same situation, this works beautifully. Thanks for a great recipe Sue! :)
