A Christian, dirt poor, Southern, right wing conservative, Pentacostal leaning, opinionated woman who lives in a Mobile home. There. Something there for everyone to love or hate. LOL
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake but I am no good at it. I like making pasta dishes and meals that don't have to many ingredients in them. Quick and easy but outstanding in taste. Not always easy to find but when you do, they are things you can always fall back on. I like all foods but some I like more than others. I am a fan of bacon, potatoes, onions, tomatos, sweet potatoes, beans of any kind, eggplant, yellow squash, radishes, peppers, etc. I do like pig in just about any form. Steak is good but chicken is my favorite meat. I never met a chicken I didn't like.
My favorite family cooking traditions
A child of the South. Fry it, fried and battered and Chicken fried. Not healthy you say? I am 67 and only been to the doctore maybe five times and that was for kidney problems twice and my skin a few times. Mumps on one side as a child.
My cooking triumphs
Invented a faux oatmeal for the Atkins bunch. They loved it.
I make the best brownies in my family.
I am pretty good at making edible cassaroles for chuch dinners.
I made the best candy anyone had ever tasted once but couldn't remember what all I put in it. But it was good. Lots of ground up pecans.
My cooking tragedies
See above. I should write these things down.
I have thrown much out that didn't turn out right. I don't beleive in hanging on to guilt. If it taste bad, out it goes. I don't try to save it.
My biggest cooking tragedy is not paying attention when my Mama, who was a great cook, was cooking. I could have learned a lot.
