About this Cook
I have been cooking since I could hold a spoon, helping my mom and then moving on to cook meals on my own. I have been married for two years and have two baby boys and enjoy cooking for my new family. My husband loves southern-style food but we also frequently enjoy other styles of food as well, such as Asian and Mexican.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook desserts and to bake bread. My husband loves to fry things so even though I did not grow up frying many foods I have learned a lot in the few years I have been with him!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom is an excellent cook and I learned almost everything I know from her! I grew up with a lot of italian style food and good old homestyle food.
My cooking triumphs
I have sucessfully made a roast duck, goose and turkey (yay!) and my more interesting dessert triumphs have been learning to perfect a cheesecake and making from-scractch angel food cake.
My cooking tragedies
Haha. Let's see, where shall I begin? I think EVERY dish I've made has at one time been a failure. But we learn from our mistakes.

White Bread I
I have tried many different recipes for white bread and about six months ago gave up on making my own homemade, since I couldn't find a good recipe! After reading all the reviews on this one, I tried and let me tell you this is the BEST recipe I've ever used. The texture, crumb, taste and all over appearance was perfect and this is by far one of the easiest bread recipes I've used. I made it the old fashioned way by hand, letting the yeast sit in the warm milk/sugar for a few minutes and then adding the rest of the ingredients. Kneaded for about ten minutes, let it rise twice and baked it at 350 for a half hour. I made this last night and between me and my husband and our two baby boys this is GONE already! I will definitely be using this recipe again!

Icebox Sugar Cookies
This made a very good, slightly crispy and chewy cookie. My seventeen month old and husband loved them. The first batch I made I put twelve cookies on the baking sheet (standard size) and they spread into each other. The next batches I put just six cookies to a sheet and they came out great. They were not the texture/taste I had hoped for (wanting to find a recipe *just* like my moms) but they were still excellent. I rolled and cut out the cookies rather than rolling the dough into a log and then slicing it. I plan on making some glaze for these next time. The taste is very buttery and very good.
