I'm a 28 year old Florida girl. I grew up in restaurants (thanks, Dad!) and cooking with my parents. My dad is the king of sauces and entrees and my mom is the baker.
My favorite things to cook
I like veggie dishes and seafood. We try to avoid meat, especially red meat. I try to adapt all my recipes to remove any added salt or oil. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We call ourselves grazers. Lots of small meals and snacks throughout the day. When we were kids my mom always made a meal of all appetizers on Christmas Eve featuring lots of fresh fruit and vegetables. It was one of our favorite things about Christmas.
My cooking triumphs
I made my first full Thanksgiving dinner two years ago and it turned out perfect. I even strayed from the family stuffing recipe and added sage and pine nuts. Delicious.
My cooking tragedies
No major disasters, yet. We have had a few, "Let's just order a pizza" nights.
