Texas Pork Ribs

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2009
Didn't need any sauce. This was my first time making ribs and I'm not going to look for another recipe. I used smoky paprika, but was a little short of the amount needed. I didn't grill them at all.

Absolutely delicious! I used 3 strips of bacon, no olive oil and grassfed beef, cooked on the stove.

15-Minute Dinner Nachos Supreme

Reviewed: May 30, 2009
Delicious. Substitutions: I don't like eating alot of rice, so I added about 2/3 cup of cooked rice, can of drained black beans and about a cup of frozen corn to browned meat. I didn't add the water since I wasn't cooking the rice. This was quick and easy and good.

Boilermaker Tailgate Chili

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2009
This was the best chili recipe yet. This is what I used (due to what we had)I didn't use beer, can't stand the taste. I used 2 pounds of stew beef and 1 pound of hot pork sausage, canned green chilles, no hot sauce, 28 oz (i think) can of mild Busch chilli beans and 15 can kidney beans. I had garlic fire roasted diced tomatoes.

Bow Ties with Sausage, Tomatoes and Cream

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2008
I wanted to lik this, but just thought it was ok. Hubby and son did too, didn't ask for more. I used half and half instead of cream, so maybe that makes a difference. It also needed more flavor, so after I tasted it, I added more seasonings.

Slow-Cooker Chicken Tortilla Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2008
This is a good base. I needed more broth and salsa, I had lots of chicken but not much sauce. I doubled the recipe and used 1 cup of corn and 1 can of white kidney beans. Next time I'll add 2 cans at least of kidney beans and double the salsa and broth. Also, it has no spice, so if you like spice you'll need to kick it up. I think I'll add zuchinni next time too. It's needs more vegetables to me. I threw everything in the slow cooker on high for 3 hours and low for 1 or more. The chicken of course was perfectly tender. Really nice, I just think it could be much more.

Meatiest Vegetarian Chili from your Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2008
I wanted to love this because it's so healthy. It's ok if you're a health freak like I am. But it's not 'meaty' like the recipe says. It is 'beany'. Not bad, I just expected more because of the reviews.

I added onions and garlic and crushed red pepper. The greens didn't need much seasoning after cooking. Try this, you'll be glad you did.

Grandma Ople's Apple Pie

This is definitely a 5 star. I added cinnamon and nutmeg. I also mixed my apples with the caramel sauce before putting into the shell. It was delicious, but sweet to me, but I don't normally eat sugar. Everyone else LOVED it.

Truck-Stop Buttermilk Pancakes

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2008
This is absolutely delicious, fluffy, just wonderful. I made the recipe exactly as written, except I used light butter. Also since I cut the recipe in half, I used 2 eggs and 1 egg white (to equal 2 and 1/2 eggs). I debated whether to add vanilla, but decided to leave the recipe as is and I'm glad I did. This will probably be our pancake recipe from now on. I have some more buttermilk, so I think I'll make another batch. I already froze some for my son's breakfast before school.

Spicy Hot Chicken Legs

This just tasted like chicken with hot sauce. I'll do it again, but not in the crockpot. The crockpot made it accumalate too much juice and I just had to reseason the chicken and put it in the oven.
