About this Cook
I'm a newlywed who loves to cook! I have been experimenting with new recipes since I was about 12 years old and still enjoy trying new things.
My favorite things to cook
I love anything dessert - especially chocolate! I love to cook pretty much everything though, and I love trying out new recipes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every other weekend or so my dad would empty out the fridge and make a meatloaf that we called "Mystery Meat". Sometimes it was delicious...and other times not...but it was always fun to see Dad mix his concoction together!
My cooking triumphs
I guess it would have to be the first time I made a cake from scratch - Carrot Cake - and it turned out fantastic! Other than that I would have to say every time some one says 'yum!' is a triumph for me!
My cooking tragedies
Ironically, the second time I made my carrot cake it wasn't cooked all the way through - and it was the only dessert for a Father's Day dinner! (The part that was cooked though was eaten right up - with the kids sticking their fingers in the still-gooey part!)

Banana Banana Bread
I really didn't enjoy this bread. I wanted to make it as intended, with no changes. (The only change I made was to cook it about 30 mins longer.) I ended up with a semi-decent tasting bread...on top of a rubbery layer of banana mush that had sunk to the bottom! Way too many bananas! Also, it needs some sort of spices - nutmeg? Cinnamon? Something. I will stick to my all-time fav recipe for banana bread...

Oven Roasted Potatoes
Amazing. These taste like some potatoes we eat at a favorite Portugese restaurant - but way cheaper and super easy! Be sure to stir them often though - we had a lot that stuck. I will definitely make this again!

Ground Beef Shepherd's Pie
Loved this! And it was for once right on with the serving size! I added cooked carrots, but besides that followed the recipe to a T - and I'm glad I did! I will definitely make this again so I can play around with more ingredients!
