About this Cook
I'm newly married, and I love cooking for my husband, family and friends. I really enjoy entertaining and trying out new recipes. I was always an excellent baker, but I surely wasn't the best cook! Allrecipes has really helped me to learn to master cooking basics.
My favorite things to cook
Trying out new things to make for dinner, so we don't eat the same things over and over. I also love making decadent desserts for special occasions.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Making desserts for my family on holidays. They're almost always well-received, and since I am the only person in my family who LOVES baking, I am usually the designated baker on holidays!
My cooking triumphs
I like to make creatively decorated cakes for friends' birthdays. They're a lot of fun for me to make, taste delicious, and people love and appreciate them!
My cooking tragedies
I once tried to make a roast chicken. I followed the recipe exactly, but somehow it just tasted terrible! How do you ruin a roast chicken ?! :-)

Best Spanish Rice
Didn't have an onion, but substituted 2 cloves of minced garlic and it came out great. This DEFINITELY needs extra liquid, especially since it's cooked in a skillet. I used an extra 1/2 cup of salsa (although mine was pretty chunky and didn't have much liquid), and added about 3/4 cup extra water. Also needs about 15 extra minutes than what is called for. Great for a gluten free side dish (as long as your chicken broth is gluten free!) and super easy! Thanks!

Pignoli Cookies II
I am from Brooklyn and grew up eating these. This is a great recipe and they taste very authentic. I actually cut the recipe in half and used a 7oz tube of almond paste and it worked perfectly! The only thing that you should know is that if you are making these for someone who needs them gluten free, check your almond paste first. Odense almond paste is NOT gluten free!

Bagels II
Very good! I used to work at a bagel store in NJ when I was growing up. These are pretty darn close...especially for being made in a home kitchen! The recipe is great as is...the only thing I noticed was that if you use sesame seeds, as I did, they have a tendency to burn--especially if there's too much oil on your baking sheet. Other than that minor tweak, these were FANTASTIC! I thought these would be much more complicated than they were--a really pleasant surprise. Thank you for a great recipe!
