About this Cook
My favorite family cooking traditions
My absolute favorite family cooking tradition is gathering at my mother's house the day before Thanksgiving with my brothers & sisters, and more recently my niece and nephew, to tear up the bread for the stuffing. We may be coming right from work, and some of us may only be able to stay for 1/2 an hour or so, but with my mom determined to do all the cooking for the meal every year, our job as the "kids" hasn't changed. She usually does 2 birds, each over 20 pounds, so that's alot of bread to tear up for stuffing!

Hamburger Steak with Onions and Gravy
Tasty and extremely simple. I do not have seasoned salt, so I used regular. Also added a little oregano & a can of sliced mushrooms to the onion/gravy mixture. My husband loved this! Served with rosemary roasted potatoes & lima beans mixed with corn. Yum.

Pasta Pomodoro
Delicious! I added zucchini to mine (had a random pregnancy craving for it!) and white beans for protein. Put a little sauce aside and added shrimp for my hubby. We both loved it.

Diane's Colcannon
Simple and perfect. Made this for my Irish mother who was surprised I even knew what Colcannon is :) The ultimate comfort side and another delicious way to enjoy mashed potatoes.
