About this Cook
I'm an american living in Holland(The Netherlands) I've been cooking and baking ever since my mom would let me touch the stove! You know cookie pops? Ive been making them for 30 years! I'm always up for a new recipe to try, living here in Holland you look for food that you grew-up with and miss and when you can't find it.....well you make it! Amazingly enough it tastes better, has most of the time less salt, is all-natural and best of all homemade!
My favorite things to cook
My favorite, thats tough, I love to make alot of things. What I enjoy to do is bake, cookies are my forté. My pies I save for my dad and family, they are my fans and critics!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My cooking tradition is Sinterklaas ( Dec.5) the dutch santa holiday I make Peppernuts the dutch way and everyone comes here for dinner, every year I try to have a new theme dinner. Christmas is cookie time, and my presents to everyone! Traditionally we make Gingerbread Houses when there is time, I work fulltime (I have my own Gift and Partystore)
My cooking triumphs
Making Homade carmel for carmelapples for Halloween this year............no really, I can't remember actual triumphs Ive been making the same things for awhile. I made Sourdough Bread, I was happy how that turned out, so much I posted a picture(I never do that)
My cooking tragedies
None I can think of ( that sounds arrogant doesnt it, not meant to)Okay as for 2009 my first real tragedy, tried a Dutch recipe for stewed meat with red wine....oh my god yuk! Ill never do that again.

Rasta Pasta
Picked the recipe because of the name, my 19 year old has to cook this week cause I have a broken hand, and we saw the name and tried it. Very EZ recipe for beginner cooks, little hot so we put pineapple thru it, tasted great! Nice change from the same 'ol pasta!

Marinated Tuna Steak
Gave this 4 stars because of the cooking time. Like all fish you have to be careful with overcooking, tuna included. It becomes dry and unpleasent. Tuna should be nice and pink on the inside, not like the canned stuff. I sear it shut on both sides, nice and brown and then take it off of the grill and wrap it in foil and allow it to rest, the result is a nice melt in your mouth piece of fish.

Cosmopolitan
Ah yes my favorite drink! Ever since Sex in the City.......I like to put a cocktail cherry in to make it look pretty, and balance out the taste.
