Angel Hair Pasta with Garlic Shrimp and Broccoli

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2009
I thought this recipe was wonderful...It would get 5 stars...except I did change just a couple things... First, I used spaghetti noodles instead of angel hair. I don't think that really affected the taste. When the shrimp was 1/2 way cooked, I tossed in the frozen broccoli and cooked it that way (instead of steaming it). I also doubled the amount of pesto, and added some red pepper flakes. The sauce never did thicken up for me...and I was worried it would be a little thin...but once I tossed it all with the noodles, it coated them perfectly, and was just the right amount.

Stuffed Peppers with Turkey and Vegetables

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2009
I changed a couple things... First...I didn't pre-bake my peppers. After I stuffed them, I just baked them for the time listed, and they came out just fine. Second...I omitted the red bell pepper. I made this with the Savory Herb Rice also found on this site...and they complimented each other perfectly. Very tasty.

Basil Chicken over Angel Hair

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2009
The only thing I changed was to add a little bit more tomato paste...and that was just because I already had an open can in the fridge and wanted to use it up. Otherwise, I followed the recipe...and it came out perfect. Very tasty.

Glazed Carrots and Snow Peas

The only thing I did differently is used baby carrots, as that's all I had on hand...and that wouldn't affect the taste. This recipe is super fast and easy...and tasted wonderful.

Ginger Glazed Mahi Mahi

I made this with Tilapia...as there was no Mahi Mahi at my grocery store. Otherwise I followed the recipe exactly, it turned out just wonderfully.

This was delicious and SO easy. I used a bag of frozen broccoli, but otherwise followed the recipe exactly. They didn't really taste garlicky to me...but very tasty nonetheless.

Laura's Quick Slow Cooker Turkey Chili

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2009
This chili was WONDERFUL. I made it exactly as the recipe stated, and it turned out perfectly. I was a little nervous, because I'm not a big turkey fan...but I couldn't even tell it was turkey. Absolutely fantastic.

Easy Red Beans and Rice

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2009
I thought this recipe was great. I did make a couple MINOR changes. First, I boiled the sausage, whole, in about 1/2" of water until it was ALMOST done. Then I sliced it. I omitted the green pepper and used garlic powder. I added a dash of beef bouillon powder. I strained the tomatoes…but did not strain the beans, as I wanted the dish to taste more like beans than tomatoes. I brought it all to a boil, and added a little bit of water to give it more of a sauce, then let it simmer until the sauce was the thickness I wanted. I also added red pepper, as my family likes things spicy. It turned out wonderful! My husband is loves beans, but is really picky about the way they're cooked. I’ve tried several different recipes…and he hasn’t liked any of them. Until this one. He absolutely loved it, and has requested it twice more already! I’ll definitely be making this many more times.

Broiled Tilapia Parmesan

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2009
The thing I love about this recipe (aside from the fact that it tastes WONDERFUL) is that it is so quick and easy. I had a made-from-scratch dinner ready in under 15 minutes. Perfect for a busy night. I did add a couple extra spices...paprika, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes. I also only used 1 tablespoon of lemon juice. Even my husband, who is very picky about the way his fish is cooked, loved it. I'll definitely be making this again!

Jollof Rice

Reviewed: May 23, 2009
While this recipe was pretty good...it's not exactly authentic. My husband is from West Africa, so I thought it would be fun to make him something that would remind him of home. While he did recognize the dish...he said there was something that just wasn't quite right about it. Overall, it tastes fine. But, if you're looking for the real thing...I'm sorry, but this just isn't it.

Indian Tomato Chicken

Reviewed: May 15, 2009
This recipe is wonderful. I did, however, make the following changes...based solely on what I had... I used garlic powder equivalent to 4 cloves. I also used ground ginger. I threw that in the blender with the onion and made a paste. I used ground cinnamon, diced tomatoes, and cut up chicken breasts. Those changes I really can't see changing the flavor of the recipe...as they are all the same ingredients...just a different form. The only thing I left out was the cardamom...because I didn't have any.

Sweet, Sticky and Spicy Chicken

Reviewed: May 8, 2009
I followed the recipe exactly, and it came out way too salty. My family wouldn't eat more than a couple bites. I don't think I'll be making this again...unless I have some time to play around with it and change some things.

Swedish Meatballs

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2009
I LOVED this recipe. I was kinda nervous, because growing up my mom always made her Swedish Meatballs with mushrooms...and this recipe didn't call for them. But, I couldn't even tell they were missing. I followed it to the letter...and it was WONDERFUL.

Tilapia with Creamy Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2009
I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to disagree with most of the reviewers here. I followed the recipe to the letter...and it was the oddest tasting thing I have ever had. It was too lemony/tart...and the cream cheese did not go well with the fish. Maybe it's just not my taste...

Zesty Rice 'N' Bean Casserole

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2008
I'm not sure I can rate this recipe because of the changes I made...but I still think it's a good recipe. First, I used black beans instead of kidney beans...because my husband doesn't like kidney beans. I skipped the mushrooms, because I don't like them. I also used a frozen onion/pepper mix (because I like to work with frozen vegetables better). I used about 1/2 the amount of diced tomatoes (1 16 oz can)...and found that to be more than enough. I also skipped the baking...because it didn't seem necessary. Overall, very base good recipe that's adaptable to fit just about any taste.

Shrimp Tetrazzini

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2008
This was a simple and delicious recipe. I did make a couple small changes... I left out the mushrooms and sherry (because I didn't have either). I used a frozen onion and pepper veggie mix (because I didn't have fresh onions). I also mixed the parmesan cheese in with the shrimp/pasta mixture, along with sprinkling it on top.

Beef Teriyaki

This is a good base recipe. I've made it several times. Sometimes I add a frozen veggie stir-fry mix instead of just the broccoli. It also tastes good to replace the beef with chicken.
