About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
One of my favorite things to cook is a huge batch of soup/stew/chili... something you have to use a spoon with. Either on stove-top or crockpotted. Depends how I'm doing with the planning ahead element. :) Soup and a hearty bread have major healing qualities for all that ails.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I'm traditionally a Midwest country cook on a budget. But appreciate flavors from all around the world. Raised around the art of canning, gardening, something on the stove simmering all day. Who said we should eat to live instead of living to eat?? I say everyday is a celebration and we should not take our God-given tastebuds for granted. *wink*

Heavenly White Cake
Beautiful white cake, delicious, moist... My 12 yr old made this cake by herself, with excellent results. She did add an extra ½ C milk as suggested by another reviewer. It's hard to stop at just one piece of cake. It's that good. We will be making this again.

Enchilada Sauce
This turned out to be delicious! I used chocolate chips instead square just to $ave a little in the store. I really wouldn't change anything otherwise. My aim was to find a perfect enchilada sauce that was MSG-free. Looks like (smells like, tastes like) we were successful.

Apple Coffee Cake
This is deeeelicious. I was out of apples and orange juice. The beauty of coffee cake is the freedom to improvise. I used canned peach slices (drained) for the apples. I used a grape/apple/blueberry/peach juice to replace the O.J. I separated the batter into two round cake pans and baked just fine with maybe a few more minutes bake time. Turned out perfectly, and tastes heavenly. I'd even bake this for my inlaws. ;)
