Old Fashioned Peach Cobbler

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2009
This is very good. I used 2 tblsp of cornstarch and left the rest of the recipe as is. It was very watery until it cooled completely, then it was fine. I would suggest using a slightly bigger recipe for the crust though. Very tasty though!

Buttermilk Pancakes I

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2009
Ohhh yum! I had bought buttermilk for a cake that I was baking and had a lot to use up so I made this recipe. I was making it at supper time (I freeze my pancakes so my kids can have them in the mornings) but had something else cookin' for the hubby and myself, but we couldn't keep our hands off these! I bet we ate 4 pancakes prior to supper! Needless to say, we weren't so hungry for our supper! My kids had them for supper and gobbled them right up! I don't think I will make another pancake recipe other than this one! LOVE IT!

Marshmallow Fondant

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2009
I use this recipe but MINUS the butter. No need for it. You can just use marshmallows, water, sugar and any flavoring you desire. It tastes WAY better than a store bought popular brand that is practically unedible! Mini marshmallows are also not required. I have made it with regular ones and it is just fine, just be sure to use the same oz. size. Also, if you omit the butter, no need for refrigeration. Just melt the mallows with the water until smooth then add the sugar and flvoring and work it A LOT until pliable and not sicky. Then it will store fine in a tupperware, airtight container.

Dark Chocolate Cake I

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2009
Awesome! This cake is very moist and chocolately. I made exactly AS IS. I sprayed my pans well, but 2/3 the cake stuck at the bottom so parchment is a MUST! In case anyone is wanting to use a differnt sized pan...this batter measures aprox. 9 cups of batter. It worked perfectly in my 11x15x2 sheet cake pan.

BREAKSTONE'S Sensational Creamy Strawberry Shortcake

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2009
Love it! Perfect sweetness in the shortcake portion. I opted to skip the extra sugar to coat the strawberries since the berries we had were very sweet as is. After it was all assembled though, I did sprinkle the berries on the top with less than a tblsp of sugar. Everyone loved this and it makes a very pretty presentation!

Chocolate Fudge Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2009
Love the taste of this one. It does not have that "powdered sugar" taste. The fudge is a nice addition. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because of the consistency. It was a bit thin...which I should have just added more confectioners sugar. I will probably be using this recipe for any cakes I make that need chocolate frosting!!!

White Chocolate Pudding

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2009
This was a nice ending to supper. I came accross this recipe after I curdled my white chocolate mousse recipe and was in need of something for a replacement. This worked perfectly! I used the rasberry puree that I had already whipped up from the White Chocolate Mousse recipe on this site. I only had Dannon vanilla yogurt and it tasted just fine! I did not have to refrigerate over night, just a couple hours and it was good to go! I garnished with white chocolate wedges and raspberries. It will help the sweet-tooth in a little healthier of a way! The consistency was thicker than pudding, more like a jello.

Tex-Mex Burger with Cajun Mayo

Reviewed: May 24, 2009
Woohoo!!!!! Another burger to add to the summer fun! This was outta this world! The veggies in it made it SO juicy and the flavor was outstanding! I followed the recipe exact. I was worried it was going to be too spicey as I am not one with a high heat tolerance, but it was hardly spicey at all.....of course it would depend on the pepper too, so the one we used must not have had too much kick in it. I can't wait to make this up for some guests...I know they will rave about it!

Bacon Ranch Pasta Salad

Reviewed: May 22, 2009
Great salad! I had many comments of "this is the best salad I have ever had"! I did not make it exactly as written. I was trying to find a salad recipe that I could use up some of my veggies. So I used the ranch, milk, cheese, mayo, and tomatoes. I skipped the bacon only because I didn't want to fry some up (next time I will surely add it but probably in the form of bacon bits). I used carrots, celery, red pepper and green pepper. A noodle is a noodle so I used a macaroni noodle instead of sprial!

Out of all the cucumber salads I have made, this is the household favorite. It's not too sweet and does not have a heavy vinegar taste. Perfectly creamy and edible!

Caramel Fudge Cheesecake

Reviewed: May 17, 2009
WOW!!!!!! Decadent! This is ohhh so chocolately and RICH...a small piece goes a LONG way....so really I would say the servings in this is more than the suggested 12. My brownie layer was not done enough after the first 20 minutes which I did not find out until I put the cream cheese layer on. So the mixture pushed the brownie mix up the sides so it got a little chewy. Next time I will be sure to bake the brownie layer a little longer. The caramel layer is a treat in this one! I did omit the pecans just since I didn't have any on hand, but I probably would not have put them in anyway.

Honey Peanut Granola

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2009
Hands down the greatest granola! My kids gobbled this up like mad! I topped my morning yogurt with it and this whole batch was gone in 2 days. We will be making this over and over again and keeping some on hand! The only thing I may try is to incorporate peanut butter into the mix.

Chocolate Sheet Cake II

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2009
This was okay, not the best though. I didn't have buttermilk on hand, I put sweetened condensed milk in place of it. This was a very moist cake and everyone that tried it loved it and are still talking about it! Next time I will try it with the buttermilk and see how it is!

Cashew Chicken Wraps

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2009
These were good the first day and great the next day. The vinegar tones down a bit the next day. I served these up on a tomoato basil tortilla and used shredded mozerella cheese. I also did not have any honey mustard on hand but used a dijon mustard and added some honey to the mix. I used lightly seasoned baked, diced chicken. Next time I may add some tomatoes and lettuce to the wrap!

Ham Tetrazzini

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2009
This was good. We had bought a Honey Baked ham and had a lot left over so I searched for things to make with it. The ham definitely made this recipe. I did add a touch of white wine and used milk in place of water. I added a small amount of sauce to my noodles as it was quite rich....but good.

Minnesota's Favorite Cookie

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2009
I kind of made these a 'garbage' cookie. I had some left over white, butterscotch and chocolate chips that needed to be used up. So I used those with the toffee bits. They baked up nicely and I was left with a chewy chocolatey cookie. I made a coupple into a homemade ice cream sandwich and it was 5 stars that way! Otherwise, I think maybe some oats in them would be good, and maybe a touch more brown sugar.

Healthy Turkey Loaf

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2009
I (and my husband) was pleasantly surprised at how good this was. I was worried it was going to be a little bland but that was not the case at all. I used a full pound of ground turkey and used seasoned bread crumbs. Other than that, I followed the recipe exact and had very little left-overs!

Homemade Black Bean Veggie Burgers

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2009
I must admit, I was VERY reluctant to try these. I have tried those disgusting things in the freezer isle of the grocery store and those could seriously ruin someones perception of a veggie burger! These were great!!!!!!! With the cumin and chili powder it gives it a taco taste. I topped it with cheese and it was GLORIOUS! I used 2 eggs and I didn't measure the bread crumbs, I just poured and mixed until the mixture was sticky.

Tail Burner Firehouse French Fries

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2009
Wowzers! The fire alarm was going off!!!! These are HOT! Instead of using frozen fries, I just diced and peeled potatoes. I melted the butter and added the spices to that and poured it over the potatoes and mixed it so they were all evenly covered. I baked at the given temp for 30 minutes. I cut the seasonings in half just due to availability but with the amount of potatoes I used (5 small ones) it worked perfect! They didn't get 'crunchy' like a french fry so maybe next time I will actually try the fries!

Garlic Chicken Fried Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2009
Wow...was this ever a hit at this house!!!! My hubby is a HUGE fan of chicken fried steak...that is what he orders everytime we go out to eat. He is not a big 'chicken' fan but he LOVED this one! I followed the recipe as is other than I ran out of garlic powder making a side dish with this, so instead of using salt and garlic powder I just used garlic salt. The breasts were thick, so instead of pounding them out, I just cut them in half length wise. I made a gravy to top it off. This will be requested many times at this house....I have a feeling! I myself, also enjoyed this meal thouroughly!!!
