I am currently a stay at home mother for my two daughters that are 3 and 4 years old.When I have time on my hands (haha) I enjoy making elaborate meals and I LOVE to have company over for supper! I have recently found interest in cake decorating, mainly with fondant, and I am totally addicted! I am testing the waters with organic cakes in hopes of soon starting a cake business selling regular and organic decorated cakes. It would be a dream come true to be able to visit Anne from Pink Cake Box and learn more about the cake business. Had I ever known there was going to be a passion in my life like this, I would've gone to a culinary school instead of nursing school!
My favorite things to cook
I don't have one favorite thing I specifically love to make. I love baking, but I also love to eat it ALL! I make something new almost every night. Only a few times a month we will have a main stay meal like spaghetti. My cooking range doesn't get too crazy since my little girls have to eat it too but when their little taste buds are ready, I would like to learn some mediteranian and asian styles!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I can remember back when I was a child, my grandmother lived with us. She was big into cooking and baking. On the weekends we would make homemade caramel and cinnamon rolls. The smell and taste remain so vivid in my mind! I don't take much time to prepare breakfast these days, but the rolls are soon to become incorporated into an occasional weekend!
My cooking triumphs
Just about every Christmas. My husband and I have the celebration at our home. I love it! I get to do the decorations and all of the cooking and baking! It's always a long day and ends with us all miserably full, but it's always worth it!
My cooking tragedies
Can a person seriously BURN boxed Mac and Cheese??!! whoops....I did! Who thought I would ever learn how to cook?!

Old Fashioned Peach Cobbler
This is very good. I used 2 tblsp of cornstarch and left the rest of the recipe as is. It was very watery until it cooled completely, then it was fine. I would suggest using a slightly bigger recipe for the crust though. Very tasty though!

Buttermilk Pancakes I
Ohhh yum! I had bought buttermilk for a cake that I was baking and had a lot to use up so I made this recipe. I was making it at supper time (I freeze my pancakes so my kids can have them in the mornings) but had something else cookin' for the hubby and myself, but we couldn't keep our hands off these! I bet we ate 4 pancakes prior to supper! Needless to say, we weren't so hungry for our supper! My kids had them for supper and gobbled them right up! I don't think I will make another pancake recipe other than this one! LOVE IT!

Marshmallow Fondant
I use this recipe but MINUS the butter. No need for it. You can just use marshmallows, water, sugar and any flavoring you desire. It tastes WAY better than a store bought popular brand that is practically unedible! Mini marshmallows are also not required. I have made it with regular ones and it is just fine, just be sure to use the same oz. size. Also, if you omit the butter, no need for refrigeration. Just melt the mallows with the water until smooth then add the sugar and flvoring and work it A LOT until pliable and not sicky. Then it will store fine in a tupperware, airtight container.
