Flaky Crescent Mushroom Turnovers

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2009
I also used puff pastry instead of crescent dough. Worked really well. They were very tasty but I think next time I will add to the filling. Maybe roasted sweet potato and rosemary.

Really good and easy. Next time I will cut down on the suger to make a more savory biscuit. And add more thyme.

Zucchini Herb Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2008
This is a really easy dinner. I followed the advise of others and doubled the herbs and spices. I also added a but more rice and fresh corn and cauliflour. Turned out great. My husband suggested crushed pepper flakes in the next batch. Two year old loves it, too.

Eggplant Snack Sticks

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2008
I must have not followed the recipe correctly because they turned out a bit rubbery and flavorless. I will try them again, maybe use zucchini and add salt and more garlic and herbs and cook a but longer. I'm sure this was an operator error, not recipe.

Annie's Fruit Salsa and Cinnamon Chips

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2008
Sooo good. I made this for my son's second birtday party and he got sick so we had to cancel. Needless to say it all got eaten by my husband and myself. Pretty much followed the recipe but took some others advise. Made my own "tortilla chips" and it really wasn't that time consuming. Thank you, turned out great!

Mushroom and Potato Chowder

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2008
This was a tasty soup after some slight adjustments. I felt it needed more flavor so I added a teaspoon of paprika and a handfull of diced fresh parsly. Super easy and great for a cool night. Husband loved it, though he added some Frank's hot sauce (which he adds to everthing). My two year old loved it, too.

Gobble Up Granola Snacks

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2008
These are fantastic! I make them once a week for my husband to take to work and for me to nibble on. I took the others suggestions and sub honey for the syrup. I also upped the honey and to 2/3c and about 1/2c for the brown sugar. I add 1/4 cup wheat gem, and dried cranberries or goji berries, too. Way cheaper then store bought granola bars and much better.

Whole Wheat Beer Bread

Really good. I took the advise of other reviewers and melted butter on top. I think next time I will add some cheese to the mix. I served this with curried zucchini soup and it went really well together. Fast and easy.

Apple Crisp II

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2008
Oh! What a treat. I scaled the recipe down because I didn't have all of the apples that the full recipe required. I did use the water (only 1/4c) and found it was perfectly moist. Top with vanilla icecream and its the perfect winter comofort food. PS-next time I will add fresh ginger.

This was a wonderful moist dish. Just the comfort food I was after. I didn't add any salt but found that it needed a bit after dishing it up. Added a sprinkle and it was perfect.

This was beautiful. I followed the recipe to a T accept for scaling it down for 2. My only tip would be to make sure you keep the heat down low to reduce. Great!

Morgan's Breakfast Polenta

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2008
I love this as a warm breakfast. I leave out the sourcream as I didn't have any the first time I made it, so now I just don't bother. I have used blueberry jam and Cherry as well. I think any jam would go great with this. PS-my 18 month old love it, too (and I skip the jam for him).

Ricotta Gnocchi

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2008
So good and easy! This was my second attempt at Gnocchi and far better than the first traditional recipe I tried. I used fresh garlic and added fresh basil and it was just fantstic. I skipped the sauce recipe and used my own recipe. My 18 month old could not get enough of them. Tomorrow I am going to make another batch and freeze them.

Quinoa and Black Beans

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2008
Really good. I followed the others advise and added to the recipe. I added zucchini and tomato as well as fresh lemon juice. I used only one can of beans but I only had a half a cup of Quinoa left. We put it in tortillas with raw cabbage and avacado and it was so fresh and delish. Good for you, easy and tasty.

Caramel Bread Pudding

I had left over hamburger buns (gourmet style) and had never made bread pudding before. I cut the suger in half and it was more than sweet enough. Served warm with vanilla icecream as others suggested and it went like wild fire. I also increased the cinnamon as recomended. Easy and delish!

Beaker's Vegetable Barley Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2008
I love this soup! It is very hearty. I sub cabbage for celery and have used both kidney beans and lentals instead of garbonzos. I also added a pinch more of all of the spices and used chicken broth as it was what I had on hand. I puree a portion for my 16 month old and he loves it, too. Great with buiscits.

Cranberry Orange Loaf

Great moist bread. Super easy. I also sub applesauce for oil and it comes out perfect every time. Only other change is that I am unable to find fresh cranberrys right now (australian summer) so I have used fresh crans packed in water. Can't wait to try with fresh.
