Cooking represents home to me. I often bake to relax. My husband and siblings enjoy my cooking and often remark I am one of the best cook they know. I have been collecting recipes since I learned how to type in high school. I began snipping and typing recipes on index cards and still have them. My favorite thing to cook is dessert, especially bars and cookies. The home tradition of my family surrounded my father's love of meat and potatoes. The smothered roast beef my mother makes delights the grandchildren today. I have mastered the art of the waffle recently. When I was young, my grandmother made waffles, and I finally got a waffle maker and have made honey/pecan and raised waffles. The first chocolate cake I made was made with mostly salt instead of sugar. Needless to say, I never mixed the two again.
