About this Cook
I'm a student at USC and as such have relied heavily on frozen entrees and eating out. I started cooking a few months ago and found that I absolutely love it. I have no prior experience, but this site has made trying new things easy and fun! I love it!
My favorite things to cook
So far I've really enjoyed making Rack of Lamb and Cioppino, and baking Blueberry Muffins, but I really just enjoy making anything that people enjoy eating.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family always ate out, hence my utter ineptitude in the kitchen.
My cooking triumphs
The first dish I ever tried from this site was the Roasted Rack of Lamb, with a dijon rosemary crust, and it came out perfectly. I couldn't believe it. I also made the To Die For Blueberry muffins and my boyfriend's cousins (who claim blueberry muffins as their favorite) said they were the best they ever had. Even though both were someone else's recipes, it felt great!
My cooking tragedies
I tried to make the muffins again and left them in the oven too long, so that was disappointing, but so far I haven't had any real tragedies.

Red Velvet Cake IV
This cake turned out perfectly! I used three 9" pans instead of 8", and the layers were perfect. I can't rate the icing, because I burned the white chocolate and had to send someone to the store for some pre-made cream cheese frosting. A word of warning: Do not EVER purchase Duncan Hines cream cheese frosting! It was terrible.

A Good Easy Garlic Chicken
I really enjoyed this. I followed SKD1983's suggestions to rub the spices directly onto the chicken, use fresh garlic and olive oil in addition to the butter, and add chicken broth and flour to make delicious sauce. I also added mushrooms in the beginning and cooked them along with the chicken, then I removed the cooked chicken and stirred the sauce with the mushrooms. It was really yummy; I served it over some casarecce with a side of green beans.
