Casey and I on vacation in Top Sail
About this Cook
Well my name is Erica and I've been using this site for recipes sporadically for about 3 or 4 years. I just moved out on my own 2 years ago and have had a chance to experiment a bit more. I live in a very small apartment on campus and my kitchen is about an 8 by 5 room, but I make due somehow. I just joined, finally, this year. I've really enjoyed all of the recipes I've been using and hope to contribute some myself :)
My favorite things to cook
Any kind of desert is worth a try! I cook mostly traditional dishes, something I like to call grandma food.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I learned to cook by wathcing my grandmother, mother, and father. I got most of my methods from my dad. I got my love of traditional foods from my grandma whom I've helped cook Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter dinners throughout my childhood. I took several cooking projects in 4-H and when I moved in with my Dad when I was 16 he always encouraged my cooking.
My cooking triumphs
I've finally created my perfect apple pie :) I bought an apple pie at Krogers a few years ago and it was amazing, they never had that brand again and I've finally got the filling down.
My cooking tragedies
I'm always burning taco shells and toast ;) In fact, today I burnt a loaf of bread.

Best Brownies
These definatley are the best brownies! I didn't make the frosting and they were still moist and delicious. These are way better than any brownie mix. This is the only brownie recipe I am ever going to use.

Honey Wheat Sandwich Rolls
I followed the exact directions and these came out flat and dense. Who knows what I did. The flavor was still good and I'll definatley try again, this time mixing the yeast in with the dry ingredients like I usually do. I wanted to use them for pulled pork sandwiches but instead I had to make a quick batch of biscuits.

Cinnamon-Roasted Almonds
I made these for Christmas and they were wonderful, everyone loved them. I used raw sugar and it made a nice shell on the outside.
