About this Cook
I am truly grateful for my loving family, including our 'Feline Four' and life's adventures! I am learning to keep the good energy flowing, even in the face of inevitable challenges; learning to co-create with the help of the wisdom of the Universe and never giving up!! Learning healing Reiki has been a gift. I hold a M.A. in Educational Psychology but experience is always the best teacher. Life is every changing process where the quality of the journey is more important than the destination. What goes around, comes around sometimes in surprising ways - so stick to the high road!
My favorite things to cook
Oh . . . no contest: Deserts, Muffins & other breakfast goodies. However, I am learning to enjoy cooking veggie dishes and main course entrees, like Salmon Souffle. 'All Recipes' is a favourite haunt of mine to sample and surprise my family with new dishes. I really appreciate the helpful comments posted by others, which I always review. Thank goodness, my Mom is the chef in our family!!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Mom's baking and her traditional recipes - hard to beat; some of which I will contribute to this site - a New Years, 2009 resolution!! Hmmmm starting with the incredibly delicious Chocolate Cake with Eagle Brand Icing and a layer of Peppermint Butter Cream Icing underneath - drooling yet????
My cooking triumphs
Any dish as long as it is not burned!
My cooking tragedies
Please . . . I don't want to remember, LOL!!

Best Brownies
Thank you Angie for this super EASY, YUMMY. one pan (except for icing bowl) brownie recipe. As advised I HAND mixed ingredients - gently mixing the eggs before adding. Lowered the oven temp 25 degrees F using a metal pan and watched like a hawk cause oven temps vary! Cooked for 23 mins - probably will do 20 mins next time to make a little more fudgey. Used a bit more cocoa being a chooholic. As Angie recommended frost brownies while warm . . . .& DON'T be concerned if the frosting seems dry while mixing - keep on mixing, warm a little before icing & it turns out perfectly - FABULOUS!

Banana Crumb Muffins
Scrumptious muffins, Lisa . . . not only the crumb topping but what's below is fluffy and flavorful! Made them this afternoon in a 6 jumbo muffin pan, for as treat for Mom and me: REALLY DELECTABLE! Thank you! Ratings well deserved. Because the following are personal favorite flavorings with us, I increased the cinnamon to 1 tsp in the topping & added 1 tsp of vanilla to the batter. I also used canola oil but love butter as your recipe calls for & will try next time. On a whim I through in 1/2 cup of crushed pineapple I had in the fridge which also worked nicely with the banana. Helpul hint: I always use ripened bananas in recipes to get the full flavor. This is going to be a repeat treat frequently!!!

Fluffy Whole Wheat Biscuits
Thanks a bunch, fellow Canadian, Ruth Ann! These bisquits were easy to make and GOOD. I used the food processor to cut in the butter, but make sure it is cold. Also if the dough gets a little sticky I just flour my hands. Mae twice: once with garlic powder and the second with cinnamon. Fun to add flavouring as others have suggested. I've made them twice
