Goulash

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2009
This is a very versatile recipe! Add or subtract any ingredients to your taste and you don't lose much. My mom made something similar to this but added ketchup (which I don't care for). I added a T. chili powder just to give a little kick but it's fine without as well. This is a wonderful "cold winter day and I don't feel like going to the grocery store to buy special ingredients" kind of recipe!

Death By Chocolate III

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2009
This recipe is awesome! Try experimenting with different flavors of pudding -- white chocolate, french vanilla, etc. and also add some other toppings like caramel ice cream topping, etc. This tends to make it sweeter, but it's kind of fun to try other add-ins.

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2009
The flavor of this lasagna was great. I have no qualms wth it. But one thing confuses me a bit and I didn't see any reviewers comment on it specifically (though I only browsed the reviews): The quantity of all the ingredients put together far exceeds the capacity of my 9X13 pan. I thought all 9X13 pans were created equal, but there must be a "deep dish" variety out there that I do not know about. So aside from tinkering with the combination of ingredients, I would advise using the LARGEST 9x13 pan you can find. Mine was utterly overflowing!

Italian Stew

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2009
I tried out this recipe because I needed something to make in a pinch and had all the ingredients on hand. It really turned out the way I expected it! It was a nice, simple and hearty meal for my picky family. I made the recipe as written except that I added garlic because we love it so much. I also used risoto (and then cooked it long enough to absorb the liquids according to the package directions. I also boiled down the liquid a little longer because I wanted more of a skillet dinner rather than a stew. Great recipe! Thanks for sharing! We'll be making this again!

Alison's Slow Cooker Vegetable Beef Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2008
Very easy soup to make. I gave it 4 stars because it is VERY peppery, and not my thing. I will make this again, but I will at least half the pepper or add to taste once served.

Blueberry Nut Oat Bran Muffins

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2008
I made these muffins trying to get the most "bang for my buck" in terms of nutrition into my 15-month-old picky eater. He loved them as did my 34-year-old processed sugar lover husband! I rate the recipe as stated, but I did make two changes: I replaced 1/2 cup of white flour with 1/2 cup of whole wheat flour and I did not have any cinnamon on hand so put a dash of allspice in. Fabulously moist and sweet. I will definitely make these again!

Tangy Slow Cooker Pork Roast

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2008
I've never been much of a pork fan, but I had a pork roast to use and tried this recipe. After making this recipe, I find my mouth watering thinking about pork roast! I love sweet meat, and this one is fabulous! This recipe has become a regular staple in our house.

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies I

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2008
I usually find chocolate chocolate chip recipes to be heavy and dense, but this recipe is not. Very yummy. For anyone who wants to make bars out of it, I made 1 1/2 times the recipe, used half shortening and half butter, spread the mixture in a jelly roll pan, and baked in a convection oven for 20 minutes. Less messing around than cookies.

Beefy Barbecue Macaroni

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2008
This recipe is a good idea, and VERY easy to make. I give it three stars because the cheese just didn't work as is. I think if you could make the cheese more of a sauce -- smoother and creamier -- it would be much better. I think this is nicely "kid-friendly" though.

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2007
Ok, I've tried lots of cookie recipes over time to find the best chocolate chip cookies, and this is the BEST one by far! They stay relatively chewy over time (storing in the freezer keeps them the most chewy), but start off chewy and moist and taste delicious!

Sweet Spinach Salad

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2007
I am rating this salad based on the dressing only. I wanted something to put on a very simple salad of spinach, mandarin oranges and sunflower seeds, and this recipe was perfect!!! I wouldn't change a thing.

Red Chicken with Vegetables

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2007
I made this recipe after finding it with the "ingredient search" because it fit with what I had on hand. My husband generally turns his nose up at new recipes, but he raved about this one! Even my 3 1/2 year-old daughter loved it! The carmelized carrots are worth the effort. I also reduced the tumeric to 1 T. The only change I may make next time is to increase the amount of potatoes and carrots that I use.
