I've been cooking since about fifth grade mostly by myself. My mom was very patient and helped me when I asked. Mostly she let me experiment and figure things out on my own. She's a wonderful cook and mother. I also learned about cooking from hours and hours of the Food Network and studying cookbooks. I would also love to take cooking classes one day.
My favorite things to cook
My favorite foods to cook are anything for my family, especially my brother. I guess I'm better at quick breads, cookies, desserts, etc., but I love to prepare meals as well. Oh, and I shouldn't forget, last but not least, I'm a Georgia girl who can't get enough of Southern cuisine and cooking.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love holiday baking and cooking. My favorite cooking memories are when my mom, aunt and I are all cooking together a huge meal for our family to enjoy.
My cooking triumphs
I feel successful at cooking whenever someone enjoys the food I prepare. I love knowing I helped brighten someone's day just a little bit by making something comforting and good.
My cooking tragedies
The very first time I ever remember cooking by myself, I made some kind of m&m cookie creation. I think I forgot the flour or something because when they came out of the oven, they had melted all together into one big, burnt mess. My mom didn't discourage me though. She helped me clean it up and make another batch--this time they were perfect.
