My favorite things to cook
Gosh I like cooking in general so it's hard to pick. I prefer making a good meal to baking, but I think am a better baker than I am a cook, I like recipies whereas my husband is a more creative cook, he just throws things together and most times they work out quite well.
The things I'm famous for are lasagna, linguine with panchetta, chicken fricasee, macaroni & cheese, guacamole, lemonade. Any kind of cheesecake, vanilla cupcakes plain or filled various ways and oatmeal chocolate chip cookies.
My favorite family cooking traditions
On New Years day our whole family gets together to make perogies from scratch. My 90 year old grandma comes over to supervise. It's a great family day, everyone takes a turn kneeding the dough ( although we do know that making it in the mixer is much easier ). We talk and laugh and eat, it's all good!
My cooking triumphs
I take the most pride in the recipies that I've developed myself through much trial and error.
My husband and I like to entertain and we love to impress people with our culinary skills. We has a open house party and everything was made from scratch and delicious. At that party we made mini white chocolate cheesecakes dipped in dolche de leche (YUM), also brownie lollipops dipped in warm chocolate sauce and much more. We had rave reviews about everything!
My cooking tragedies
I was hosting a party for 60 and was peeling 5 dozen eggs for deviled eggs. I don't know what I did wrong but the shells stuck to those eggs like it was glued there, by the time I was done peeling I has less than 12 good eggs and had to start over! I was in tears, but decided to add curried egg salad in mini cressants (?)to the menu. It was all good in the end.
