I'm a University student studying English and History. I recently got married and bought a house with my husband. We're settling down with our little Golden Retriever, Gracie, and doing a lot of cooking and baking in our spare time!
My favorite things to cook
Cakes and loaves, muffins, scones, elaborate dinners and spreads.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Kritoshti, a Romanian variation of the polish Perogi. It's more versatile and MUCH tastier :)
My cooking triumphs
My first successful fondue party at the age of 8 (one with oil for meat, the other with chocolate for fruit), the first year I cooked Christmas Dinner for two dozen family members when I was 15, and my complete dessert spread for a guest list of 50 at Christmas.
My cooking tragedies
In the same dessert spread as mentioned above: I made a double batch of petits fours over the course of two days; rolled fondant, two genoise cakes, and royal icing that I formed into 3D christmas trees on top of the cakes... it was painstaking. At the party, the people liked the trifle I whipped up in 20 minutes more than the tiny cakes, which I do admit were a little thickly iced. The good news is they're now rock-hard Christmas decorations at my mother's house.
