Ode.....to Mr. Jingles.
There is a house in a small town, 2 lots in from the corner. And in this house lives a family, 3 dogs & 1 kitten.
The dogs live outside and the cat that lives his life inside. This cat is very young and still a kitten. This cat is a funny kitten of sorts with no mittens. He keeps the family all entertained. For the special thing about this cat----is his name. For Mr. Jingles is a great cat he's small and slinder and not fat. Mr. Jingles is afraid of what and how we don't know. But it's funny to see show.
Mr. Jingles is his name, and if you have to asked why is it for which he is named. I believe I'd have to say, hmmmm, you decide for yourself. Mr. Jingles runs and plays, loves his family in every way. His meow is soft and sweet, his coat is quite nice and always very neat. A different looking sort of fellow and seemingly always yellow. Not by color but by his heart.
Mr. Jingles loves to cuddle and play in water puddles. Surprisingly for a cat that likes to do that. I guess you can say he's a little odd in that way. He follows you around like a little lost puppy dog. He likes to watch the kids at the computer and meow at the telephone ringer. He makes his presence known by sitting on your chest as if it was a thrown.
Mr. Jingles gets frighten by loose dogs in the house or even his appearance in a reflection. What has caused this cat to be such a diaster that he can't look at himself in a metal canister.
This family in this house came up on some mousy droppings and knew what needed to be done. Send Mr. Jingles in to get do the job. Run the mouse right out of the house, kill it in it's tracks, stop the mouse from making more. Sad to say.........the mouse is still in the house.
The mother in this house put Mr. Jingles in the kitchen. The mouse was making a lot of racket and clawing at the wall. He was bitting the wood and scratching at the paint. Which was freshly put there just last fall.
Mr. Jingles was quite the listener, he heard the scratching and the noises but never moved and inch. He heard the mouse but wasn't sure. What kind of thing had he heard. You would have thought he would have sought to the area to which he brought, but to the mother's eyes she saw Mr. Jingles listening and even paying attention.
To his curiousity and then to his dismay. See the mouse run across the house and the cat scampered away. Tucking his tail and meowing with fright, Mr. Jingles was not going to be any where in sight. He saw something he did not know. For it was in his home.
At first the mother was laughing at the poor dear, because she realized Mr. Jingles didn't know what to think any more. A thing he saw he'd never seen before but it was fast and a frightful thing. Bigger then a bug and smaller then him. This mouse in the house was to quick and faster then him, so it seems Mr. Jingles was scared. But did he dare......to take a look and see what was there?
A few days later she tried again to get Mr. Jingles to defend. He sat with ears perked all straighten up and still as a statue, but when the mouse came near, he jumped and ran even further, hiding in the bedroom and looking real scared. The look on his face was WHAT WAS THAT? I don't understand what can be, for I'm not sure for what it was that I've seen.
But did he go back and see what he had seen. should he or shouldn't he go back to a look. To go to that spot, I guess you can tell or wonder what the he$#. But Mr. Jingles did not go back, but lay on the bed and take a cat nap.
The mouse in this house knows he's won for the cat would just run. Funny as it is to see a scare-d-cat, like I have seen. The mouse in this house could have his fun. Run to an frow and back and forth oh what fun. Not realizing he was fixing to be axed because the mother said That's That! The mother in this house decided to fight back, showing if you set a trap and see what would happen. Knowing temptation is a powerful thing and what can't mice not be tempted by but by one thing. The mouse in this house has now seen his end by smelling the cheese in the end. Again temptation is a powerful thing, and when you don't watch and pay attention .......SNAP!!!! it is done.
To Mr. Mousy I'm glad I've won, now I know my job is done. I didn't like staying awake. You gave me a mental fright, worried and bewildered most of the night. Not knowing what or where you could be going. Hearing you in the walls and running through the halls. Making noises I did not like now I know you've taken a hike.
To Mr. Jingles, you know I love your sweet purr, but for you being a scare-d-cat is quite abserd. I know you have it in you, I see it when you play. So get your butt in gear. Or your jingles won't be jangling in the rear.

LOL!! Of course I would love this story. My siamese is "just" under 19 pounds. Yes, she is a big girl. She is also diabetic (7 yrs. old) and spoiled rotten. When it comes to "mousing", well..she is NOT scared, she is completely disgusted by the whole thing and leaves the work to my 17 yr. old kitty!! She thinks that mousing in "beneath" her, the little..errr......big princess that she is! lol Thanks for your story, it made me smile! :)

Your soo welcomed. Now there should be a 2nd part to this. He finally got into the mouse thing just a few months ago. And when he caught that mouse, I was sitting at the computer to here him moan, barely turned around and I had a flying mouse head my way and flipped out, called hubby cursing him out over it, he had me on speaker at work and the guys in his office went to rolling......I'll never forget that day for the rest of my life......I had to get a broom, sweep him up in the dust pan....and toss it outside. Geesh--that scared the out of me when Jingles did that. I would have been fine otherwise taking care of it myself. It gave me a heartattack.

LOL Your comment was funny too! My cat is a great mouser, and mole hunter. On day at another house I lived in . I was in the kitchen sitting at the table drinking a cup of coffee when I saw Oliver (my cat). Sitting out side looking at the ground oh so intense, just sitting there staring at the ground with his ears and only his ears moving back and forth. It was a sight. Just then he reaches down and low and behold he reached in a mole hole and grabbed a mole out of it. Tossing it into the air. The mole of course never saw this coming and was so shocked at what just happened he just laid there on the ground shaking and then he died, just like that. My cat Oliver went over to it, sniffed it and walked away...

OMG Celeste too funny. I had to stop Mr. Jingles from playing with that mouse when he finally got one. He didn't kill it, just torchered it beyond belief but never did the deed. That mouse was still alive when I got it in the dust pan and out the door. But it's soo funny now. Aren't cats just the funniest thing...mine also meows "Momma". Oliver sounds like he fixed that problem and said I'm done...lol love that.

My favorite things to cook
Asian, Mexican, Multi-cultured foods, Low-fat, Low-sugar, Stews, casseroles, slow cooker meals and baking.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Funny but true: Cooking traditions men sit in the recliner and women in the kitchen...lol My family is always in the kitchen. My sister and her family, my parents and my family celebrate Christmas in January. Due to distance and work related jobs. Every year we plan what we are having ahead of time. Our tradition is usually food we've had abroad growing up overseas. Normally with Asia influences. It's always a special treat when we normally don't make the dishes often throughout the year.
My cooking triumphs
Unknown to me when I came up with a chicken and dumpling recipe of my own, my father was floored & delighted and told me it tasted just like his mother's.......My mom dropped her jaw because it was better then her's. It's a staple with my husband and kids.
My cooking tragedies
I had found a recipe for a Pretzel Pie(like Pecan Pie), thought it looked good and I didn't follow the recipe when it said unsalted pretzels. I just grabbed the normal stuff with the salt on it, made the pie, and my dad and husband were painting with thrist. And making weird pickle sour expressions, when I realized the pie was over salted. Oopppss! I never made it again.
