About this Cook
I have been cooking for 43 yrs!! My husband retired from the Air Force so we were exposed to many different cuisines. I love to cook and share what I make with neighbors. I check all recipes every day for new dishes. My kids are always teasing me and asking where I got my recipe. I love to have all my kids around the table with good food and conversation. Nothing like it!!
My favorite things to cook
I love casseroles, homey type foods. One of the most favorite dishes I cook is homemade chicken and noodles with homemade rolls. My kids love them!! I love to bake and have a ball around Christmas. It's so gratifying to hear how people have enjoyed something you baked for them. I get much more out of giving them my baked goods than they get out of eating them. It's truly a blessed time of loving and giving.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My dad always had a huge garden when I was growing up in Ohio and we had fresh vegetables during the summer. My mother canned and during the winter we could have those veggies in our meals. They tasted wonderful. I like to cook comfort foods but love to find new recipes to see how my family likes them. I make the same meal every Thanksgiving and Christmas. It has all become a "tradition." It's the same meal my mother made for the holidays when I was home. Tradition means a great deal to me. I'm trying to pass that on to my kids.
My cooking triumphs
Gotta say chicken and noodles. Hardly anyone makes these anymore and my kids have never had noodles bought from a store. They had them at a friends house one time and thought they were terrible. Ask the hostess if she had ever heard of homemade noodles!!!!
My cooking tragedies
I sorta taught myself how to cook and right after we were married I tried to make a dish with those awful breaded "beef?" patties you buy in the grocery real cheap, chicken broth and green beans. My husband and I still laugh about it. I was terrible!!! Looked as bad as it tasted. I also tried to make liver and onions one time. I put the liver and onions in the pressure cooker and let it cook for some time. Needless to say it was mush when I finally served it. It was terrible. Our oldest son loves mustard and was about 11 yrs. old at the time. He put mustard all over it but told me it was "hopeless." Never tried to make it again. Don't think my family would let me.

Flatlander Chili
Even thought it is 96 degrees out I fixed this chili to take to a birthday party. It is DELICIOUS. I'm making copies now for all the people that ate some. I didn't change a thing. Went by the recipe exactly. It was sooooooo good! And, even though there are a lot of ingredients it's relatively simple to make. UMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!

Tangy Grilled Pork Tenderloin
I have wanted to fix this recipe for about a week or so and finally got around to it today. Wish I had done it sooner. YUM!! YUM!! I really like pork and this really gives it a good flavor. The pork was so tender you didn't need a fork. I marinated mine for about 6 hours. Also put a clove of garlic in the marinade. Wonderful. My husband loved it. Had it with rice and green beans. A wonderful meal. Thanks for the recipe.

Pebber Nodder (Danish Christmas Cookies)
I had never heard of cardamom so went to the store to get it. After bringing it home and smelling it I almost didn't use it. But......these cookies are fabulous!!! I rolled mine in about 1/2 inch balls, rolled them in granulated sugar and baked for 10 mins. These are wonderful with coffee or hot tea. I also added 1 tsp. vanilla simply because I add vanilla to all cookie and cake recipes I think will benefit from it. These were awesome!!!!! My husband smelled the cardamom also and wrinkled his nose up. He's a real cookie fan and eats cookies and milk every night before bed. After they finished, he couldn't keep his hands off. A great benefit from baking these cookies?????? The house smells wonderful!!!!!!!
