About this Cook
I'm 32 and sarcastic.
My favorite things to cook
Onions, garlic, pancetta and olive oil...the smell is heavenly. Basmati rice, a good stew, roasting carrots. Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens. These are a few of my favorite things.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Sure to kill you just reading it: Bullets. Cut a slice of scrapple 1/2 inch thick, fry both sides in butter til crispy and dark brown, melt velveeta on top of it, pile in buttered white toast and listen as your heart starts packing up to leave. They're called Bullets for a reason...but it's something you should try just ONCE in your life :) My mother makes a mean pot roast and an amazing turkey meatloaf with Great Grandmom's recipe.
My cooking triumphs
Stuffed turkey meatballs, some with mozz, proscuitto and basil; some with ricotta, sauce and crumbled sage sausage. Also famous for mashed potatoes, faux potatoes, vanilla cake cookies, double chocolate chip cookies (secret's the Ghirardelli dark chocolate chips) baked ziti, five cheese penne, chicken pot pies, root soup, an old fashioned dark chocolate cake so moist and rich it's nearly black...ok I'm getting really hungry.
My cooking tragedies
Soy cheese and rice macaroni. Dammit. I'm onto something by adding the stone ground brown mustard to the cheese sauce but it just tastes hideous. Still working on it. The Soya Kaas cheddar cheese is the best I've tasted on the market. Trying to get a totally vegan mac and cheese with no white/wheat flour involved.

Naan
I followed the instructions exactly and came out with 1) a TON of naan that I had to split and freeze, and 2) the best bread I have ever made. This was worth the effort. I'm eating leftover naan I'd cooked and put in the fridge 2 days later, and it's still melty in the mouth, not chewy at all like other bread. Next time I will sautee some onions and steam peas and put 2 naan together for grilled stuffed naan. Had that once at a restaurant and loved it. GREAT RECIPE!!!
