I'm finishing up my undergrad degree in Child Development. I live in Texas, so I love Tex-Mex and southern comfort foods. I grew up in New York, so I love Italian and ethnic foods also.
My favorite things to cook
Baking. I started out baking a ton; homemade cakes, frostings and cookies. I moved up to dinners and I love cooking ribs, burgers, pastas, and salsas. I also like to find new spins on traditional recipes. I don't want to become one of those people who are limited to a small dinner rotation.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Making Christmas cookies with my mom. My grandma's homemade applesauce cake, and her sausage stuffing for Thanksgiving. Mmm mm good.
My cooking triumphs
Homemade cinnamon rolls w/ cream cheese icing. Super yummy, I actually got the yeast to work for me. Homemade gravy and salsa (I'm from the South heh). I finally got the gravy thing down and I finally created a great tasting salsa recipe on my own. The only thing to fix on it now are ways to make it spicier without changing the great taste.
My cooking tragedies
Homemade red velvet cake. This seems to be my white whale of recipes. Any help in the area would be fabulous.
