I'm an out of work funeral director. I'm married and am currently owned by a spoiled-rotten 1 year old German Shorthair Pointer named Ollie. He loves it when I cook because most of it ends up on the floor and that's when he makes his move. I love to cook, but don't pretend to be any good at it. The good news is that both of my beasts will eat just about anything I prepare. I just got a brand new set of Emeril Lagasse stainless steel cookware, and I'm still at the stage of "it's too pretty to cook with," but I'm in therapy for that now.
My favorite things to cook
I like to prepare stir fry, and aspire to one day be able to make an egg roll that doesn't fall to pieces before or after it's cooked. I also love to experiment with chili recipes. My goal before I die is to be able to make the perfect pizza at home, also. I see myself dying before I get there, though.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My favorite tradition is to just get through the process without burning the house down.
My cooking triumphs
Creamed pheasant! Even I was shocked. My meatloaf is is quite scrumptious, also.
My cooking tragedies
My first attempt at baking as a child. I made a chocolate marble loaf cake from scratch and mis-read the recipe. It called for ONE 1 ounce square of unsweetened chocolate; I thought it read eleven, so I dumped in a whole 12-ounce box. The bottom was like concrete and my mother had to take the pan to a landfill and pay a fee to have it buried there.
