I'm married with 3 kids and I truly enjoy cooking. I really love to try out new recipes and am constantly searching for new ways to present old standbys. The three dishes that everyone asks for: Potato salad for every barbeque; cornbread dressing every Thanksgiving; homemade tamales at Christmas. I grew up having tamales and bueneulos every Christmas and although I never perfected the buenuelo, I think I do pretty well with the tamales. My extended family usually gathers at my house for most of the holidays and just having everyone happy and full at the end of the day is a triumph in itself! I used to watch my grandmother and mother make homemade tortillas and they always came out perfectly round and just the right thickness. The first time I tried it, my tortillas took on the shape of the state of Texas and were so thick the masa (dough) didn't cook all the way through.
