About this Cook
I am a Canadian mother and university student who loves to cook. I was brought up with everything healthy and homemade and both my parents, younger brother and I are now vegetarians. My favorite way to cook is by making up something new or throwing together something tried without a recipe. I use Allrecipes to give me ideas, cooking times, advice and also recipes.
My favorite things to cook
Curries, stirfry, pastas, new inventive burritos, rice and beans, crispy fried tofu, dips, sauces, dressings, salads...
My favorite family cooking traditions
I have adopted my father's amazing knack at making up meals. I love the way he can throw multiple dishes together off the top of his head. I have also been lucky enough to grow in up in a home where we try many cusines and diverse meals.
My cooking triumphs
My husband was looking for a new way to cook tofu and so I tried coating cubes of it with spices and bread crums, dipping it in egg and then frying it in oil on all sides. Soooo good! He wont let me cook it any other way now!
My cooking tragedies
I once made a huge pot of soup, adding my own ingrediants and spices and I accidentaly poured way too much hot spice into it and it was unbearable, even when watered down a LOT. I had to throw it away. Also, I have a strange inability to make rice, I either burn it or it's hard!

Tuna Noodle Casserole from Scratch
Really good. Mine wasn't dry at all, but I might have added less noodles. I used pasta instead of egg noodles (bowties) and added until I thought there was enough for the sauce. I added 1c cheese to the mixture, and then sprinkled more on top with the bread crumbs. I also added asperagus because I had some to use up and took out the mushrooms and celery. Kids and hubby loved it too.

Guaco-Tacos
Absolutely amazingly delicious! I will make these over and over. I used black beans, which I think would be better. I do recommend using a whole jalapeno in the salsa if you like more kick--otherwise it would be very mild. I used leftover taco shells, but would love to try it with tortillas.

Louisiana Sweet Potato Pancakes
Yum! I made them as the recipe states except I used 1c whole wheat flour. They were great! My 6 year old loved them too.
