About this Cook
I'm 42 and been married for almost 23 years. I have 2 children, a daughter 22 and a son 16. I also work with children at a fantastic preschool!
My favorite things to cook
Anything chicken, cookies, Mexican and Italian
My favorite family cooking traditions
When my brother comes in from Florida we do a big Christmas type dinner(no matter what time of year it is). We do the works...ham, mashed potatoes, biscuits, gravy, and we always have to have his favorite...baked beans. His wife is Asian so he doesn't get southern home cooked food unless he does come in for a visit.
My cooking triumphs
Actually just yesterday I made a cookie that I just knew would flop and it did fantastic! Everyone loved them.
My cooking tragedies
Some "Rum Pum Pum cookies" I tried to make this past weekend. Horrible....at least the dog liked them.

Double Tomato Bruschetta
I made these for a New Year's Eve party last night. WHAT A HIT! I think I got one of them. This was my first time making bruschetta and it wasn't as intimidating as I thought it would be. We'll definitely try some more bruschetta recipes.

Christmas Pinwheel Cookies
Very festive cookies! I was a little stressed while making the dough. You definitely need to have an extra pair of hands around to help move the green dough on top of the red. But it was well worth it! They weren't too sweet either which is good for my family, since we have a few with diabetes.

Bon Bon Christmas Cookies
These were absolutely fantastic! I did make one change. I had regular shortening and didn't want to spend money on the butter flavored since shortening is so expensive now. So I did half unsalted butter and half vegetable shortening and they turned out great! Not recommended for someone with diabetes...there is a lot of powdered sugar in these cookies!
