Roquefort Pear Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2012
When my wife saw me downloading this recipe she said she was going to eat out the night I made it (not a pear fan at all). I convinced her to stay, and she came back for seconds. My son who loves blue cheese but hates salad came back for seconds as well. When we were finished my wife said, "This is the salad we will take when we are asked to bring a salad!" 'nuff said...this is a great recipe.

Artichoke and Sun-dried Tomato Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2011
I enjoyed this recipe more than I thought I would. I followed the suggestions of several other reviewers and added chicken broth and garlic to the cubed chicken while browning it. I also used Italian Stewed tomato's rather than plain diced tomatoes. We ate it over Angel Hair Pasta and it tasted pretty decent. I also sprinkled some pecorino romano cheese over the top. Will make it again with the modifications listed above.

Amazing Sun-Dried Tomato Cream Sauce

Reviewed: May 10, 2011
Great recipe! I made it with Tortelini and everyone was licking their bowls clean. I didn't have the mozzarella, so I used just fresh grated parmesan and I also added some cayenne pepper for a little kick. Thanks for sharing! Will be making this again and again.

Best Tuna Melt (New Jersey Diner Style)

Reviewed: May 1, 2010
5 Stars, nothing less. Looking for something to try and came upon this recipie. Didn't have rye bread or Swiss cheese (used white bread and provolone cheese) and the family couldn't stop raving about it. Even the Tuna haters in the house came back for seconds and thirds. This was an excellent recipie!

Chicken Cordon Bleu II

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2010
Ditto with all of the other reviewers. I did saute the chicken, then bake it at 350 for 20 minutes as others suggested and it was great! Even the non-chicken lovers said they would eat it again.

Baked Asparagus with Balsamic Butter Sauce

Excellent recipe! I didn't brown the butter as others suggested, and next time I will be sure to take this step. Will make this again and again!!

Red Pepper Cream Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2010
Very easy to make, and very good. Followed the recommendations of others and didn't add the lemon until the very end. My family thought that it needed a bit more salt, but the sauce was a hit. I don't know if I didn't blend it properly or if I didn't heat it up long enough to evaporate the cream but it wasn't as thick as I would have like it. Next time I will cook a little longer and blend the peppers a little longer.

Balsamic Cream Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2010
Good recipe! The only change that I would suggest would be the one that other reviews has said, which was to reduce the amount of Chicken Bouillon granules.

Grilled Tri-tip Roast

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2010
Like other reviewers, this was my first time grilling a roast, and I approached it with apprehension. I took the advice of other reviewers and marinated the roast (I punctured it several times to allow the marinade to penetrate faster) for 4 hours in a marinade of olive oil, red wine vinegar, salt & pepper and garlic, then seared it on the stove prior to putting it on the grill. I did the indirect heat method that other reviewers mentioned and since I didn't have wood chips, I poured the marinade over the rocks to add a little extra "smoky" flavor. I cooked it for 2 hours and it came out a perfect medium rare! The flavor was awesome!! My sons that usually have to put A1 sauce on all steaks ate it plain and came back for 3rds!! The meat was very tender and juicy with a fantastic flavor. I highly recommend this with the changes listed/suggested by others.

Blender Hollandaise Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2010
Loved the ease of the sauce and the amount of time to make it. Made it as the recipe suggests and thought it needed to be a thicker. Good flavor, but next time I will try some of the suggestions that others have made to add a bit more flavor.k

Drop Biscuits and Gravy

Reviewed: May 13, 2009
I gave this 5 stars because I am not a big fan of Drop Biscuits, but these were excellent. Maybe it was the combination of the Gravy and the Recipe that made everything work to perfection. I made one change with the sausage. I cut the required amount in half and used bacon for the other half. My kids wolfed it down and were beggin for more.

Slow Cooker Barbecue Ribs

Reviewed: May 9, 2009
This was an excellent recipe! I would have given it 5 stars except I made the alterations suggested by others, mainly substituting my favorite barbecue sauce instead of ketchup. I also added some crushed garlic to the pot that isn't called for in the recipe. Lastly, I also made my own Chili sauce rather than using canned sauce, and it made a big difference. Great recipe, it should be made often!

Spicy Sausage and Rice Casserole

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2009
Needs more liquid for the rice, and more sausage. Also, try to put the rice on the bottom as opposed to scattered throughout. We had some rice that was on top that didn't get enough liquid and was quite crunchy! Great flavor though.

Happy Shrimp

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2009
Made a couple of changes to this recipe by adding some mushrooms and heavy cream to the sauce. My family thought that it didn't have a lot of flavor and didn't really care for it. I thought it was pretty good, but needed some additional spices after it got to the plate to help give it some more flavor.

Penne with Pancetta and Mushrooms

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2009
Made this for my family last night and it was met with ho hum's. They complained that the sauce wasn't flavorful enough and that there wasn't enough of it. I substituted regular bacon for the Pancetta and Angel Hair for the Penne. I also doubled the amount of liquid that the recipe called for and it still wasn't enough. If I were to make this again, I would probably add some white wine, butter and some salt to the sauce to give it a bit more pep.

Pork Chops a la Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2009
This was a good recipe. I followed the recipe as outlined only I used boneless pork loin instead of what the recipe called for. The flavor and aroma were wonderful. I cooked it for 8 hours, but amazingly my meat came out a little dry. My family loved it except for the dryness of the meat. I made the gravy as others have suggested and it was great. Will try again, only will try and use meat that has a bone to try and prevent the meat from being dry.

Bacon Wrapped Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2009
Made this recipe exactly as outlined and the entire family was licking their plates clean! The only suggestion would be as others have said, pre-cook the bacon and crumble it on top, rather than wrapping it. I enjoyed it wrapped, but a couple of the family said they would have preferred it the other way. Great recipe!

Slow Cooker Pork Chops II

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2009
My family enjoyed this very much. Like some of the reviewers I cooked 1 inch chops for approx. 8 hours. I was surprised that mine came out somewhat dry. I added a 1/4 cup of white wine to the liquid as others suggested, and I would recommend doing that. Not sure what to do to prevent the meat from being dry? Good recipe, will make it again.

Lime Chicken Soft Tacos

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2009
Very pleased with how this turned out. I did make some of the modifications listed by others (Cilantro & Cumin rather than Oregano) plus I added a half a pepper and 1/2 TBS of Crushed Red Pepper. It had a great aroma and the chicken was very juicy. Tried both Hard Shell Corn Tortillas & Soft White Flour Tortillas and preferred the Hard Shell.

Fajita Marinade I

Fantastic easy marinade for fajita's. Made it late one night and didn't even marinate for the required 2 hours and it turned out great. Highly recommend as is.
