About this Cook
I love to cook and find new recipes all the time – this is how I found this site. I got married about a year ago and love my new kitchen where I create all sorts of concoctions – some better than the others. My husband always volunteers to try anything new I create.
My favorite things to cook
I love to try new recipes but my favorites are Italian and Polish dishes. I also like baking and trying to make some healthy alternatives to my fatty and filling favorites.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I am Polish and my husband is Italian so we come from families that love food. Every Christmas Eve I make traditional Polish dished. I started to make Christmas cookies last year and I think this is going to be my other favorite tradition.
My cooking triumphs
Every meal that tastes great and my husband compliments is a triumph for me. He says that my ribs recipe rocks and he wants me to make them all the time.
My cooking tragedies
There have been few disasters but nothing that almost burned down my kitchen or stopped me from loving to cook. My “favorite” was attempting to make potatoes pancakes with red potatoes – no no – way to watery. It took me about a week to figure out why they didn’t turn out.

Irish Soda Bread
Very good recipe. Not too cake like which I liked. I used it for sandwiches and also ate some just with butter. Yummy.

Gourmet Mushroom Risotto
Excellent recipe. This was my first time making risotto and it was much easier than I anticipated. I ate two servings yesterday and this morning I brought some to work and I am eating it already (its only 10 am!!) – this is how good it is. My husband loved it too. I made my own chicken broth with fresh vegetables and chicken. I used 1 full cup of wine, baby Bella and white mushrooms and it wasn’t too much. At the end I also added cut-up chicken from the broth and some green peas, which was very tasty. And of course I used freshly grated Parmesan cheese. Making my own broth allowed me to control the salt and the end result was scrumptious!! Will definitely make it again – maybe with some tomatoes or garlic and shrimp next time.

Egg Salad Sandwiches
This was a very good salad. I used freshly chopped onion, regular yellow mustand and fresh dill instead and served it on a sandwich bun with butter lettuce and a slice of tomatoe. Very good. I though 1 cup of mayo would be too much but it was perfect.
