Marrakesh Vegetable Curry

I made it with a few things missing that I didn't have on hand, but despite my fears about the orange juice and raisins, it was just delicious. I'm going to make it again with as many ingredients I missed before as possible. I can't judge its authenticity but we sure liked it!

Barbecue Chicken Casserole

There wasn't enough sauce to cover the slices of chicken breast I used, and I thought it needed more spice. Probably using a cutup chicken as the recipe states would work better? Needless to say, there were leftovers of this while the Mexican chicken casserole was cleaned up.

Sarah's Banana Bread Muffins

Had a 9x13 pan already prepared so used that. Tasty with nuts and coconut, but uneven and lopsided. I would have used a mixer if that was suggested. I also subbed about 1/2 C white whole wheat and with 3 large bananas it was quite moist! Second time I added coconut and I hated the texture! Won't do that again.

Ooey-Gooey Cinnamon Buns

So it delivered on the "gooey" part, although the syrup candied some in my metal pan despite the shorter 18 min. baking time. Too much butter for me. I like a sticky bun you lick your fingers after but don't necessarily have to wash your hands! I made a different sticky bun before which I have to find again...

Lovely simple bread in a hurry! I used plain yogurt instead of buttermilk, had to add a bit of additional milk, and it rose beautifully in the pan.

Chocolate Nut Brownies

Cake-like brownie recipe I had trouble with: batter was too stiff so I added about 1/4 cup applesauce. Then I had only 1/2 cup cocoa so I added 1 Tbsp of instant coffee powder. I also wish I could more uniformly chop nuts, since mine come out from very fine to medium sized, not very pretty on top. I'm going back to the recipe on the Hershey's cocoa can.

Fresh Peach Pie I

The taste is superb, and I got a lot of compliments. The directions could be a bit better. My second pie I learned to puree the peaches and water in the blender first, and to stir together the dry ingredients before combining everything in the saucepan. This may be obvious to experts, but I'm not one.

Tomatoes with Basil-Garlic Dressing

I tried this on myself first, thank goodness! Basil and garlic team up better with olive oil than yogurt and vinegar, in my opinion. Sure was easy and pretty though.

Flax and Sunflower Seed Bread

Great flavor. Too soft and moist in my opinion, and my loaf rose too high then dipped on top. After cutting the water a bit and changing 2 cups whole wheat and 1 cup bread flower, it came out the way I like it.

Fruit Loaf

I didn't make this loaf exactly as recommended, making the following big changes for my Fruity Loaf: Used 1/3 cup prepared mincemeat and enough water to make 1 1/8 cup liquid; didn't have milk powder, added only 1/3 cup raisins plus 1/3 cup chopped dates, and what I thought was pumpkin spice equivalent. It didn't rise real high but boy was it delicious with butter or cream cheese!

Russian Black Bread

This was my first bread trial, and I was pretty happy with it, but I'd omit the fennel next time. There should be something else than cocoa and coffee to color the bread!
